[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]So,This is my first map posted to Forge Hub...go easy on me,please ;)

I call it "PIT BOSS",and, obviously,it's a remake of Halo 3's "The Pit".

The geometry is accurate, for the most part,as far as jumps, and sight lines, etc. go...however,I have updated a couple areas and items, and ,of course, had to make some decisions regarding weapon layouts, since we have no maulers, brute shots, etc.

The only armor abilities I placed on the map are a drop shield on each sniper tower, where the regen used to be.

Also,I opted out of the top-floor base respawn area, for budget reasons,as well as playability factor.

New Hotness: I added a ghost on each side near the grav lift,as well as a Mongoose on each side near the Shotgun Hall. These probably won't get used much, but will be fun for Objective games.

My main focus was on making it FEEL like The Pit,while adding a sparkly new layer of Reachy Aesthetic beauty.

    Hope you like it!

    Added after 2 minutes:

Sorry the pics are above the description...As I said, this is my first map posted on Forge Hub.

    :)

You got 28 Downloads on this and nobody has commented...
There is something wrong here. :p

    Anyways-
I really like the look of this. The rooms are very pleasing to the eye.
(Especially the sword room, which just so happens to by my favorite room on this map)

I like how you don't have a roof. It just gives The Pit a nicer overall feeling.
The over-shield spawn is creative. Rocks AND water.

The towers are straight up awesome and a little different then the originals (Which I like)

    You've gotten my download.
    Keep it up!

Okay, what's with the lack of comments?

    Thanks,Snipe!

    Tell your friends!

Just posted a link to this in the Remake Contest "Forgotten Treasures 2".

    ...WISH ME LUCK!

    Added after 2 Days 1:

I thought this map would stir up more commentary than this.

People are downloading it,and everyone I've played on it with LOVES it.

And other, less solid maps are generating LOTS of comments...so ..what gives,Forge Hub Community?...am I doing something wrong?

Or,is there something you DON'T LIKE about the map?...Lay it ON ME! :)
    Personally,I think it's SWELL!

lol great map, but honestly dont get caught up in the "why isnt anyone commenting on my map lol"

since it is a pretty decent map though here is a free bump because it does in fact deserve way more attention.

I do have 1 question. How did you measure distances while you were laying the outline of the map out? for my Foundry V.R map i used single walls and it turned out pretty decent. im just interested in what you did to measure.

    Thanks!

I honestly just went with a combination of memory and placing items, then running and jumping across spaces, then adjusting as necessary.

The map started with me just trying to recreate the sword room, for a laugh...but it just kept growing until I got this!

Again, thanks for the feedback, and tell your friends!

    Thanks,community!
This has really taken me by surprise.

Pit Boss has been entered into Forge Hub's "Forgotten Treasures 2" contest, and I got my fingers crossed.

Has anyone here played it?...can you report back here about your experience?

Not bad it looks nice but it is not very playable. The main problem I had with it was it just does not function in reach the way it does in Halo 3. The proportions are off and a lot of the jumps can not be made even in halo 3 settings. On the other hand I will say it is nice re-imagination of The Pit and if everyone had jet packs it would be fair or maybe even the ghost an mongoose would make make it fair to the ones without j.packs. I wont play nice with slayer pro an that is a problem. Again I see your design and it is quite creative and original in the way you used the forge pieces but one thing you should pay attention to in the future is the player flow for all game type this is really important. Also you are missing hills. I look foward to seeing more of your maps in the future.

    Ah,Kdavis73...we meet again.

So, tell me: You mentioned "A lot of the jumps can not be made even in halo 3 settings." Can you be more specific?...I took a lot of time making sure that you COULD,for example, jump from the platform at the end of Green Hall, to the platform outside of the Base (Mauler spawn in H3), also, made sure you can NOT jump with the flag up and out the window, but rather you need to exit the base either up the ramp towards shotgun,or out the bottom towards snipe.

And you said the "Player Flow" was off...and the "Proportions"?...I mean...how?
It is actually measured out to match the original Pit layout foot for foot, inch for inch,nearly...so I really don't know what you mean...can you be more specific? I've played probably 50 matches on this map and have gotten nothing but rave reviews!

But you're right about the Hills...I didn't flesh it out for all game types, as I was in a hurry to get it entered into that Contest ...that you won...lol.

I agree with this. IT looks great but so many of the jumps are gone and it's too big in some places and too small in others.

    Can you be more specific...PLEASE?

    WHERE are the jumps gone?
    WHERE is it too big?
    WHERE is it too small?

I can't do anything to fix vague, nonspecific observations.
(Which may or may not have been formed on just looking at the pictures in the thread)

I AM,however, willing to work with the Community to change ACTUAL issues, wherever they may be. I just ask that you be specific.

Like: "I can't jump from the ______ to the ______ that's next to the _____".

    Or

"The ______ Room is way smaller than I remember it...Can you make it any bigger"?

I didn't come here to show off, I came here to make maps that please the most amount of people as possible...and that takes a village. And that village is called Forge Hub.

So help me out and I'll keep making maps that YOU like!

    PEACE!

Well, I maybe not an exact REMAKE. But I like how you change it in a few parts. Maybe I think you should either makes necessary changes or go along the lines of "inspired by the pit. If you go with inspired then it gives you freedom to manipulate the original map and it also gives you room to be creative. The rocks are a great start. Nice.

Well for one, it doesn't look like I can make the jump from plat to green. That's the most important jump on The Pit.

Huh...that's funny; I did that on purpose because I thought in the original that you only COULD jump one way,but not the other.

    Anything else?
