    Fruity
"Would you like to share that orange, ma'am?"

Fruity is my first REAL attempt at a 1v1 map. It has been said to be a good 2v2 map too, but I have yet to try that. It symmetrical in two different directions, making it very easy to navigate as well.

The map itself has went through a lot to get here, getting more attention from me that all my other maps. Creating, testing, changing, posting, testing, changing, posting, testing, changing and finally posting here!

I personally think all that work has paid off, but thats just my opinion. The real test begins here, when you, the Forgehub inhabbitants, start to play, and give feedback. No matter how cruel the comments are, I must take them, and impliment them into the map to make it the perfection I originally intended it to be.

The sniper rifles and grenade launchers spawn at the same spot, but not at the same time. The grenade launchers never respawn, and spawn at start. But the sniper rifles don't spawn at start, and keep spawning every 120 seconds. It is made this way so you can't pick up the sniper rifles and headshot each other, as this causes major frustration.

Well, I suppose we should get to the pictures now...

A lot of thought was put into the centerpiece. The light in the middle acts as a lift to the second story.

The elbows were a later addition to the map. Giving and alternate route other than strait up the middle
    [IMG]

One of the two bases, they contain the custom powerups, and to get to them, there is a lift placed at each base. Taking you up, through the powerup, and onto the second story.

One of the outer bases. They are an even later addition to the map, and are connected to the elbows.

Overhead view of the map. Helps you get a better idea of the layout.

    Comments are greatly appreciated!

    v2 is now out!

Thanks, but for future reference, comments like "nice concept man," will be labled as spam by mods and may result in your banning, if you keep doing it. I'm not saying I'm gonna report you or anything, but you'd best not let a mod catch that kinda of comment too often.

The layout reminds me of my old map, Plexus! See here:

I saw the preview you posted of the map earlier. Wasn't it called Tangerine before? Anyway, 1v1s are such a joy to forge. I'm glad you kept it simple. I know how tempting it can be to go overboard with aesthetics in a map that uses little budget to begin with. I think you did a good job with the design of the map as far as a 1v1 goes. Did you use any sort of invisible ledge for those steps in the bottom middle area? Looks like they would cause a bump, but I wouldn't know. If they do, I'd suggest using the invisible surface of a 3x3 block here and there to get rid of any awkward areas. But anyway, looks like a decent map. Good layout and well forged.

Out of curiosity, why does the DL link send us to your Savior map. Is it the same map? You have fruity in your file share but your link doesn't go to that one.

Im glad to finally be able to play this.

After a few 1v1 sessions last night with my siblings, I can gladly say this map is a good as I hoped it would be. The one thing that stands out more than anything with it is the balance, as no side is overpowered, and its not possible to rush all the Power Weapons.

I can see few problems with it, as the forging is near perfect and clean, and the map is aesthetically great. However, you may want to fix the download link in your thread, as it links to Saviour instead of Fruity, which means people have to surf your file share in order to get it.

Thanks for the heads up. I must of clicked on the wrong map... Sorry guys! Anyways, thanks a lot for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed it. However, if I may ask what are the little problems you saw? I need any feedback I can get this map.

    EDIT: Fixed the dl link.

As I said above, I must have clicked on the wrong map... Sorry.

    EDIT: Fixed the dl link.

No, Tangerine was a map of Rook's, but its name did inspire this ones'. As for the center, you can very easily walk over the bumps, and wouldn't be there if it wasn't for aesthetics... Also, I would do as you said and use an invisible surface to smooth it out, but I'm out of blocks, I'm afraid. Anyways, thanks for the input!

Your map is very clean as it should be for 1v1 imo. Nice layout overall. I played a few 1v1's on it but opted for MLG FFA for warm-ups rather than use of your weapons. Overall a very solid 1v1 map.

Yeah, moderators are... really mean here... I do not want to say a bad word because I get sanction, but this forum does not promote map support, neither does it supports posting, and this is why it is so dead and boring...

Your taking my post completely wrong. I am NOT saying the mods are mean because of not allowing "spam," just that they will punish you for it. That being there job, I dont blame them. Overall they are helping us rather than trying to make us angry.

Thanks a lot. And did you play on the Erupt - 1v1 gametype? Idk what you mean by "opted for MLG FFA," haha Im not very MLG, myself, sad to say.

    Edited by merge:

The custom gametype download link wont work right now. I had to fix it because the custom power was failing. Will edit when I get it fixed to let you know.

    *EDIT:* Fixed dl link.

The backside of a 3x3 Short (side without the glass) has an area that is smaller than the collision box, and thus acts as an invisible surface when the player walks on it. You can arrange the piece so that the invisible surface is above any bumps you may have (stairs, for example), but the visible portion is hidden.

Thanks man, are there any other pieces that do this as well? I noticed this on the Strut but it is not in a useful place.

Many objects have invisible walls. The most profound one being the coliseum window.

Glad I got to test this map, it is nice be able to see the finished products. Great job on aesthetics and gameplay. I will have to download the new edition soon. :)

Ah yes the colliseum window, i hate it when people use that piece for floors, it is so confusing. I think to myself "HOW IS THAT THING FLOATING"

I think you're overestimating the size of this map...

Thanks, let me know if there's anything you think should be changed. Not many people have given me things to change. Only "this is bad and this is good." Nothing that I can actually edit to make the map better. No "real" feedback.

Also, @Everyone: Screenshots screwed up. Will update the thread and add screenshots back. Sorry for the inconvinience.

I like the lift being in the light, also, i like the layout a lot. I think you should adjust the covers on the outside bridges they seem a little off.
If you want to play, i love 2v2 GT:JDB95

I'm on right now. I'll invite you... Hopefully Your online.

Also, I did adjust the cover in v2. New bases were added on the outside of the bridges, as well as new lifts to the second story. CTF and Koth were added in, too. I also got rid of the custom powerups, they were annoying me :/ So therefore, no gametype needed. And I added 1 spare clip to each sniper.

All that said-- The map now plays 4v4, though may be hectic. New screenshots are up too! Check them out!
