I would definitely buy it. I love Halo CE and recently purchased the PC version so I could play it online. Its really fun and to be quite honest, I enjoy it better than Reach's online matchmaking (but it lacks custom games). I would have a huge nerdgasm if they had Halo:CE with a tweak to the gameplay (not the ones that Bungie did to Reach though...), forge mode and more customization.
Kind of off topic, but Halo PC is extremely easy to mod these days. It has something very close to Forge called Sparkedit (I tend to think this program inspired Forge) that you can use to make custom maps for you to play with some friends. Modding communities are pretty much dead so you're not going to really have anyone to share them with (there's one active community, but it's more like a social network now more than anything, still a good resource for tutorials and programs, though), but I still do it for fun. It actually often helps me plan out Forge maps. As it stands, with Sparkedit you can only use the objects in that specific level to move around and duplicate, but you can inject stuff from other levels and single player that makes it easier to make maps, which only requires you selecting objects from a list and clicking an 'inject' button in a separate program. The only downfall to it is you can't just host a server with your mod and have people join and they just see your map, they actually have to have the mod as well in order to see it if it's something outside of projectile mods. You have to actually plan out who you're playing with. For those eager to Forge HCE maps, I would recommend looking into it. It's pretty fun.
mixed feelings. I wouldn't buy it as a full game. Arcade game? Yes.. Why you ask? Sure, CE was FANTASTIC. Even if they did have MP, it would be AMAZING. But without forge or theater(2 HUGE factors in my game buying decisions these days) I most likely wouldn't spend $60 on it.
If it's legit, 343's got some big shoes to fill. Add in PC maps, online multiplayer, theater, a form of Forge, and upddated graphics, and I might get it. Any additional add-ons (assuming they aren't awesome), and they'll probably screw up. Also, the Microsoft halo series annual release (it's in the article): Just milking the cash cow.
I hope it's in DLC expansion form, I don't intend on buying a game disc and have that one collect dust after 2 months (I'm looking at you ODST...)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that a port rather than anything close to a remake on the scale of what's rumoured here? This is supposed to be CE rebuilt in the Reach engine, I can't see them sticking it out as an XBLA game, I'm guessing full disc title if it does happen
I can guarantee it wont be an Arcade release for 2 reasons: A) They arent going to let any game go with Reach's engine for 1200 MSP. Also, MS are greedy. B) Because its using Reach's engine, is going to be about 3-4 gigs. That would be the biggest arcade release ever, considering the biggest arcade release ever was 2.5 gigs (ish).
