    Hello.

I'm not a good forger. I hardly forge. And I've never completed a map. So please excuse my poor foray into the world of forge.

It's not much. Enhanced bases, a re-thought weapon layout, altered scenery and lines of sight. But it's Gulch, and it's a mish-mash of Coagulation, Blood Gulch and Hemorrhage, a cleaner cut, refined version of the three.

I started by researching my favourite map, Coagulation. I noted down the weapon layouts, the spawn, the scenery and took it all in my head. And then I started forging.

Gulch was designed for Classic Slayer, which is why included in this thread is a custom gametype. I figured early on that armour abilities would not slip well into the map. But after some playtesting, I found out that they would, however, I still preferred playing it without them, so that's why I've included the gametype for you. It supports Team Slayer, Capture The Flag, Assault, Oddball and Territories. I'm not sure about any others because I designed it to keep in mind the 'classic' gametypes.

I kept in mind balance. I've heard people say that balance is key so I tried to stick to the principle that every weapon had a counter-weapon and that everything was placed around the map fairly. So the bases have identical weapon layouts, and there are two power weapon and two power-ups evenly spaced around the map. I also included two Covenant crates with a needler and two plasma grenades to create an incentive for players to travel to other locations.

The weapons featured on the map are:

    DMR
    Sniper Rifle
    Magnum
    Rocket Launcher
    Frag Grenade
    Plasma Pistol
    Plasma Rifle
    Needler
    Plasma Grenade
    Shotgun

    And the vehicles are:

    Warthog (plain)
    Mongoose
    Banshee
    Ghost

    There are also two power-ups:
    Active Camo
    Overshield

    Here's some pictures for you:

That seems to be about it for the actual map. I also have some of the map in action:

I'll post a flythrough soon, if I get Bungie Pro, if some kind soul within my family offers to let me use theirs ^_^

Sorry if this post is too long. I just wanted to be thorough for my first map. And apologies that it isn't much, but I'm proud of it. For me, whenever I play it, I get a huge rush of nostalgia, and I love that.

    Thanks,
    -Twiggy

I like it, I always thought that the Original Blood Gulch, and Hemorrhage needed some tweaking, and I think you pulled it off well, I might also suggest that you place the Fuel-Rod gun in there too, like in Halo PC, You don't have to, but I thought maybe you could make a Gametype called Halo PC ! It might be fun, and as one of the people to really enjoy Halo PC, It could attract some attention!

Okay, sounds good. I was never a PC player, but I'll definitely look into it. ;)

Thanks for the feedback. After building this I suddenly got the urge to create a complete Coagulation remake so that's what I'm working on currently.

    Okay, just downloaded the map.
First things first, don't put yourself down, sometimes the simplest map works the best.
I had a look around in forge, I really like the addition of the braces to the bases, it makes them seem a lot larger. I've never played on Coagulation, but I'm interested to see how this map plays, as I'm not a big fan of Haemmorage in Reach's matchmaking (mostly cause I never get the scorpion :p).
Anyway, good look in your next project and I'll try to get a game on this.

    Thanks ;)

I've just finished my Coagulation remake so I'll upload that later on, hopefully. Can I ask for your GT? If you'd like, I could use a test player.

My GT is MyWhiteFlag. I'll help out whenever I can, and whenever my connection will allow "sighs".
Anyway, looking forward to Coagulation in Reach.

I think, over all this is a good map, I love the idea of mixing up the three. But I see one super small and fixable flaw, its not something you need to worry about, but the rocket launcher was suppose to be on that hill to it's right in the picture. It's not in that picture but it's there... I think that's where it went... Oh well. Nice map anyways.

    Thanks Dino ;)

Yeah, I used Coagulation's weapons list, but I tried also to not completely copy everything.

I saved that for my Remake, which I'm currently re-working for a Version 2, but the original version still plays super.
