Also, just as an aside, when you are first trying to capture the Spire, the falcon goes down after it goes through a covenant shielding dome, at that point Jorge yells "Lock your armor SPARTAN!"

That could be one more reason Six survived, locking his armor before impact.

For further evidence, in the very beginning of Halo 3, Johnson comes across Master Chief, who is unconscious and has just fallen from space. One of the medics says that his armor "Is still in partial lockdown". After pressing a few buttons, MC's arms fall to his sides, his armor lockup being released.

So there is another reason Six could have survived.

    Must resist. posting in. topic.

    GAH! Can't do it.

*slap* thats for such a horrible misunderstanding of reality.
You don't just fly in to space and then stop *pop* now you're orbiting.
What you do is fly in to space and then fall. If you fall directly towards the planet then you will just crash back in to it. What you need to do is to fall and miss the planet. A perfect orbit will have you constantly at the same distance from the planet, constantly falling indirectly towards it.

Newton had a nice cannon ball explanation (I think Galileo also had his own theories)

Edit: Also, in the first cutscene when you land on the Corvette you get a nice shot of Six's back and you can clearly read whats written on the re-entry unit.

seriously. this topic will not die! (yes i know, i'm posting in it)

how about we all agree that he survived cause its a sci fi plotline that requires him to do so? Whatever mumbo jumbo about armor lock or gel layers is the "explanation" can we all just agree its badass and move on?:)

Armor lock and gel layer (no, not armor lockup)

Someone also mentioned something about a re-entry pack, but I don't think that was needed.

For Noble 6, the re-entry pack was needed. The only reason Master Chief didn't need on was because he has better armor, and he surfed a door on his way down. ;)

I know. Even the Master Chief himself needed a door to ride on.

The only thing that kept Master Chief from burning up in the atmosphere was the door he was riding. Allegedly, Forerunner metal is virtually indestructible. The only explanation is that he was riding on the safe face of it.

And the only thing keeping him from going splat was his armor lock.

Plus, you never see Six activate his re-entry package. We have no idea how it works. Whatever it did, I think it's safe to say it saved his ass.

Yeah. It couldn't have been the armor. Noble six is outfitted with Mark V armor, which is quite inferior to Master Chief's Mark VI. Maybe the re-entry pack prevents you from being destroyed in the Atmosphere, or slows you down enough to survive an impact.

The re-entry package is the only explanation.

As for Master Chief, the Forerunner door obviously is what protected him.

I thought it was Chuck Norris that saved Master Chief?

I didn't bump, it was Broken Eye.

    I just made it funny.

Also, repeating whats already been said is spam. Think about that before 1000000 more people come in and say that it was AL, or re-entry, without bringing up a valid point.
