Am I the only one who's noticed that Reach is getting just a bit boring? I find that it's not nearly as fun as it used to be when it first came out. Reach just feels SLOW now. Does anyone agree with me, or am I the only one?
I certainly did agree for a while... but to me it ended up just being the fact that it was the only thing I played for a while. I played the black ops campaign, and prestiged once, and when I came back to reach, it's really fun again. You just need a break, bro.
I can usually overplay a game very easily, however both H3 and Reach have me tied in and they just don't seem boring.
I used to be so excited when a map pack came out... With this one, I actually forgot when it was released, and still haven't purchased it because I really don't see much incentive to.
Funny you say that, cuz I've been playing Black Ops ever since it came out, and I love it. Then the Noble Map Pack came out, so I bought it and played Reach, and it was just boring. Does this mean I like Black Ops BETTER than Reach? Well, I don't know. All I can say is, to the people who said that Reach won't have the longevity of Halos 1, 2 and 3, I'm starting to think you're right. :,( Lol I'm starting to regret buying it, actually.
Reach is much more strategic than Halo 3, but a lot less skillful, I'm not bored yet at all. I'm more of a strategy guy myself...
I just prefer H3 gameplay. TBH I'm not a fan of AA's, they just seem to ruin gameplay at times, and they are abused too often. I hate the grenades too. I just get bored with matchmaking, but I enjoy customs and forge
It's getting boring, because there just isn't much variety in the maps and gametypes -- and half of them all suck. A Team Snipers playlist that actually follows the idea of a sniper (concealment and distance), coupled with a Living Dead playlist that isn't broken... That'd be enough to renew my interest.
Psst still just as skillful just more strategic which I like since I play most games like a puzzle anyway. Im not bored either Matchmaking is actually fun in this game, but for Halo 3 i was for a long time besides the customs and mini-games but I've already racked up more kills in Reach matchmaking then ALL my matchmaking kills in Halo 3 and more Firefight kills then ODST.
The problem is that expectations are always raised so high. Whenever something new comes out, it's never the same as what we're used to. It never will be, really. Because it's not just the mechanics of what you're playing, it's the experience. Think, the first time you stepped into Master Chief's shoes, what an experience it was. It will never be the same as that first time. It's unfortunate, but that is the very rule on why sequels can almost never surpass the original.
i stand by everyone elses' statements so far...like i said before i usually stick to team dubs, but the only problem is that there is only like 5maps, i feels like, to play on so its the same thing every game. but as much as i hate the ranking system i like seasons a little b/c every month i feel i need to rank myself - i wonder if thats what bungie was aiming for?!?! but yes going between HR, MW2, BLOPS, and H3 seems to keep the games fresh, if you will.
Yeah. Unfortunately, Bungie seems to have focused far too much on the aesthetics of Reach. The credit system in Black Ops is just amazing. The idea of practical upgrades would add so much to halo. I mean, Armor Abilities could be something to work for, not just randomly find. Weapons too. Think about spartans in Halo literature and Reach campaign. They didn't run around picking up whatever weapon they had. Jun always had the Sniper. Kat had the Pistol. Emile the shotgun, and Jorge had his chain gun. The characters in the campaign and literature have so much more depth than the ones that we play. That was really an area that Bungie could've used to gain a huge amount of COD fans, and anchor in previous Halo fans. Reach is definitely a disappointment in that respect.
I played Reach for about a month after it's release. I haven't touched it since. Mostly because I got Black Ops, AC: Brotherhood, borrowed ME2 from a friend and got some good computer games recently. Plus I only have like... 3 friends that play it that I talk to very often.
Friends is a big part. I guess more than anything it depends on what you like, what you're content with, and how long it takes you to get bored with something.
Reach isn't a bad game in its own right..it just isn't Halo. No matter which way you slice it Reach doesn't play like Halo. It's too bad...I wish Bungie had waited to innovate for their new IP.
Whenever a video game gets boring I'm really happy because it means I can move onto more meaningful things in my life. But then I just end playing tetris or something anyways so who cares. I really wanted to put an unhappy smiley at the end of my post but do we even have those? Here :eod: is this unhappy? What am I looking at?
The ONLY reason I'm bored at all with it right now is because my friends don't play it. Some of them get on and sit in forge and make maps that never get played. Custom games are fun as hell, but rare. I miss some good old fashioned custom competitive matches with all my online buddies.
Quite possibly the biggest reason I couldn't stand playing. The only reasons I played Halo 3 were for the maps and the customs with my friends. Well, for Reach at least...I last got on 2 weeks ago, only to play with one of my bros in customs, before that, I got on to play with another bro who hasn't been on xbox in forever. Pretty much what you have said TSB applies to me as well, I'd probably be playing Halo Reach every ****ing day if it meant that there is always at least one guy on my friends list who is either hosting customs or willing to join me so I can host some. I pretty much stopped playing Reach for this reason. Nobody ever joined me when I invited them ever, no matter who it was. Nobody would ever be willing to do customs, hardly ever. I could barely ever find customs before Black Ops came out, and now there is barely any one who still plays Halo, so there basically isn't any customs. Even the forging thing applies to me as well, people forge all the time. All the time. Seriously chill and play the game for once. They spend their entire life away making a map that is going to be "the greatest ****ing map ever!" and then nobody plays it, it gets no downloads, and is totally forgotten. Inb4 COOL STORY BRO! Seriously I'm pretty much done with Halo, really have no consideration of getting the new map pack either. DERP
