Attainment By Shad0w Viper Welcome one and all to this most momentous occasion, one that many said may never come. Shad0w Viper has finally completed a map by himself!!! Take a minute to let that sink in, don't worry I'll wait, this is a special moment... has it sunk in yet? Good let's continue. Now I know what you're thinking and it's true I did finish Titan without the need of a co-forge but that was a remake and we all know remakes don't count. This is a true original project made by just Shad0w Viper, no Tex's, no Iv0ry's, no rusty's, and no chrstphrbrnnn's, just me. Whether the community embraces it or it get's crushed under the weight of the map flood it will always remain a huge milestone in my forging career, and with that said let's move on to the map. Attainment (Codename: Apple) is an inverse symmetrical small to medium sized map set above the canyon floor. The two bases are divided from each other by a multi-leveled center structure that bridges the two towers together. Under each tower lies a lift to allow those below a quick way back into the action or a quick escape for those being chased. Those looking for a less noticeable approach to the base may find the outer bridges connecting the base of the towers to the balconies to be a great flanking route for getting the jump on your opponents. As for the key weapons you will find the Rocket Launcher on the bottom level of the center structure and the sword above it on the top level. Accompanying those are a pair of snipers each located by the window to the left of the base. Finally there is a pair of concussion rifles and each can be found on their respective side's outer bridge. Below is a complete list of all weapons found on the map. Weapons 6 x DMRs 2 x Concussion Rifles 2 x Needler 2 x Needle Rifles 2 x Plasma Pistols 2 x Plasma Repeaters 2 x Sniper Rifles 1 x Energy Sword 1 x Rocket Launcher Grenades 8 x Plasma Grenades 4 x Frag Grenades I started this map with the hopes of submitting it to Bungie's Forgtacalur contest and whether I win or lose I will always remember this map for something that arguably means more to me, getting over my solo project hump. Mmm, I remember playing this one. Thanks to Reach and CoD I've slowly began to dread the word 'symmetrical'. Attainment changed my mind. The map generally flows very well. A lot of the action seemed to take place in the top middle section (which felt vaguely reminiscent of Sanctuary). Forging is very clean and each area transitions very smoothly from one to the next. I also appreciated the window, it cushioned any sense of claustrophobia these enclosed maps tend to give off. I found the sword to be the most important PW on the map. I myself must have racked up nearly ten kills with that thing. Another thing to remember here, battle bros are absolutely necessary. Can't count how many times I'd be running from top mid trying to recharge my shields and guy comes by and assists me. Thanks guy! Gonna keep this one on the HDD for a good while. Well done sir.
I am so totally stealing the use of Wall Corner as railing. The only suggestion I can make after a quick look is the player orientation might be a little lacking. Maybe a bit more flair to the hallways to help with area recognition?
I was starting to get some issues with lag on the map so I had to scale some things back to get it under control for my forgetacular submission, but I will look into improving this in a later version if it turns out to be detrimental.
This map created feel that I used to like when it came to competitive forged maps which is good because I haven't really played a map like this in a long time. The sword is defiantly the power weapon you want to contest while setting up. The sniper got its use but is better for those who are more fast on the draw due to the slight roomy feeling of the map. Never really got to play a real game of CTF on it but all the times I played Slayer it was really fun and I enjoyed myself. Congrats on your first "Solo" completed map lol ...minus Titan...
played 3V3 on this tonight. gotta say the main thing that stood out to me most was also the "transitions" as the poster above me said. no matter where i was, or what situation i was in, movement and flow throughout the map just worked. it was my first time playing on the map, yet the directions i should take in a crisis situation felt instinctual to me. im going to be keeping this one around for a while, i really enjoyed it. nice job shadow.

This map truly is beautiful. In every sense of the word. Unless the spawn system is flawed (which I doubt), I expect to see this in MM. Nice work Shadow, your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
I looked at this map in forge and it looked pretty bad ass. I like how you you found ways to integrate the large walkway into the map for walls. The layout is very unique, and the "scale" of the map seems perfect. It's not to big/small... it feels just right imo. Also, everything was well aligned and nicely put together. I can tell you put a lot of thought into the layout and i bet it will show during gameplay. I can't wait to try this one out. Great map!!
It looks pretty sweet from the pictures. It has an indoor/enclosed feeling in some parts, but still and outdoor/natural feeling in other parts, without the transaction between the two being too drastic. Im dling now, maybe I'll get a big game going sometime. If I do I will come back with more, better feedback.

^-that's totally not spam and stuff either. Anywho, I really liked this map as well. Though, to me, I could never really get a hold of the DMR. Though, I usually rushed sniper and what not. I'm sort of glad you added the CR to the map, added some spice. I did have a few awkward spawns, but nothing too bad. So yeah, good map, can't wait to see if it gets into MM.
You can thank me and my infernal nagging for that. I told him the map was great but needed some more weapon action. I love the way the map came out man. I hope it makes the contest, even if it is going up again Redemption. Reach needs more maps like this. Kinda feels like a cross between Citadel from Halo 3 and your old map Outpost. I hope you have the inspiration to continue making your own maps. You do well.
Oh stop, you're making be blush You probably couldn't find them because I was picking them up ;p, in all seriousness they were spread out so that there would be one only a few steps from each spawn hive, so I would suggest that you die more the next time you play, lol.

i have downloaded this and played it and it is an awesome layout. there is enough cover to run and find a safe spot but you also can be in the heat of the action i give you major credit in the way it has been designed and set up. thanks for the awesome play time.
This is pretty sweet, Shad0w. I hopped around on here over the weekend and I was severely impressed. I'd love to get some games on here sometime, as long as you're on my team.
I wouldn't necessarily call us gods, lol, but a good place to look for the more respected members would be this thread. Not to discredit those without color, there are many members with a grey name that are held in high regard around here. Thanks a lot guys, these kinds of comments are always nice.
Attention please, if you are reading this post at the moment, you are in the map thread for the greatest map ever forged. That means, stop reading my comment and dowload the map! Everything on Appl-- Attainment just works great, the flow of the map is awesome, the gameplay is unmatched in reach. This is one of the few maps that make me enjoy Reach and even if it won't win Forgetacular, which is very unlikely, it still won my heart ♥
