This map has been removed from my fileshare, but the new version can be downloaded from this post still. v2.5 is up and available for download. New forgehub Post Naval Battlefield This map is pretty freaking awesome. I saw somewhere on B-net that someone wanted boats, and I got an idea. This is actually the second version. The first was sloppy, and seemed to small. This version, however, is precise, and much larger. I feel like I should have put some more obstacles in the middle though. Vehicle lineup: Spawn Room: Overview: The map is symmetrical, with two bases at either end. I decided to make spawn rooms away from the main map. These act as an armory of sorts. Players cannot return to the spawn rooms. There's really not much to the bases. Weapons (each team gets access to the same weapons): 2x DMR 2x Rocket Launcher 2x Grenade Launcher 2x Shotgun 4x Frag Grenade 2x Plasma Repeater 2x Needle Rifle 4x Plasma Grenade 4x Machine Gun Turret* *Each base has 2 machine gun turrets on the outside of it. Vehicles: 8x Warthog 8x Mongoose 2x Revenant Supported Gametypes: Team Slayer Multi Flag CTF/One Flag CTF Assault/One Bomb There's not a whole lot to the map. It's pretty simple. Players Spawn, grab their weapons, go through the teleporter (one-way), go the the vehicles, then duke it out. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Before anyone brings this up, there are a little bit of Honor rules required. There is only one teleporter exit for each base, which could result in a large amount of spawn camping. Though, if people are playing it as it should be played, then everyone should be either A) In the battlefield or B) Defending their objective (or sitting at their base using the turrets or something) _______________________ I am in the process of fixing a lot of things on this map to make it more playable, and overall, a better map, so Naval Battlefield v2.5 should be up in the next few days. ______________________________ v2.5 is up! You can find it here.
Is there a kill zone below the water so when some one gets out they die? I'll get some friends and play when I get to my Xbox. Also from the pics most of those weapons are *vehicle power weapons* (I'll explain at the end of the post) is that all of the weapons? It looks like a pretty good map besides that 3/5. *vehicle power weapons*:A weapon which can be very useless on a player, but on a vehicle it E.M.P.s or sends it flying through the map e.g: a concussion rifle or plasma pistol.
No there is no kill zone. That wouldn't work anyway, because it would also destroy the vehicles. And it would be pretty frustrating if every time you got knocked out of the vehicle, you died. Besides, it would be like your swimming, except you can also shoot. And also the so called *vehicle power weapons* are there because the main focus of the map is vehicular combat, rather than infantry battles.
I'm talking about the rocket launcher with lock-ons that could get annoying. How many clips does it have?
It has one extra clip. But is there even vehicle lock-on in multiplayer? I know it was in the campaign, but I haven't even played on a map that has a rocket launcher and vehicles. But even so, if the player with the rocket launcher dies, then no one will be able to pick it up because I set the physics on the weapons to "phased" for the sake of aesthetics. And really, the rock-it lawn-chair and the grenade lawn-chair are really the only anti-vehicle weapons on the map.
Rockets will only lock onto air vehicles. The Banshee Bomb is the only launcher weapon that can lock onto both air and ground vehicles. There's your answer.
There are no plasma launchers on the map, though putting some on may make gameplay interesting. Just to make this clear: There are no weapons with a lock on function on the map.
My review: Enjoyment: 9/10 -This map was actually very fun. The idea was awesome, and it worked (for the most part). I definitely will keep this map, and play it a lot! With a few tweaks it could be perfect. Balance: 8/10 -It was very balanced for the most part, but there are some advantages, I'll explain later in the post. Durability: 7/10 -Great map, good design, etc... It isn't the "prettiest", but it suffices. There is a game-breaking factor though. If careful, one can drive a warthog to the other teams side, and cover their teleporter, trapping them in the spawn. I'd add some one-way shield doors so this isn't possible. Aesthetics: 5/10 -Not very pretty, it isn't absurdly ugly though. The confining box really ruins it. Maybe instead of a box, you could make really tall rocks as a barrier and it would look better. Originality: 10/10 -I haven't seen anything like this in Reach so far, it's definitely a fun, replayable experience that is fresh and new. Final Rating: 7.5/10
There were a lot of things I was disappointed with in this map, I'll admit, but I really didn't really realize it until It got a fair amount of downloads. I may release a 2.1 version in the near future, changing some of the things that you mentioned.
agreed, this would stop people from not dying because certain guns don't shoot underwater.... I would just add a teleporter that spans the entire sea that doesn't affect vehicles... best you could do right there. A v2 would be awesome because it's a great idea.
Your suggestions have been noted, and will go into the next version, which would be version 3, because this is actually the second version. V1 totally sucked, as I made it before I got experienced with Forge 2.0. I guess I could put a teleporter that only transports people to a kill zone, or underwater. Anybody have any ideas to make it more aesthetically pleasing?
YouTube - Halo Reach Tutorial: Usable Boats THIS IS NOT MY VIDEO. But, I saw this a while ago, and thought to myself, "Why didn't this guy use it for his map?" If you see at around 1:00, this chap explains that if you set a VERY slight kill barrier, vehicles will NOT be affected by it, but players will die when they get into the water.
While that works, I'm using my own method for this, and am currently working on a v2.5, where if you fall out or jump out of the boat, or jump into the water at all, you are teleported underwater where you die.
Any help is appreciated. I'm about 3/4 of the way through of improving it. I've added a teleporter to teleport you underwater if you jump out of your vehicle. But then I faced a huge problem with objective games. It would be very hard to get out of your vehicle, and on to the enemy's base without falling in. So, I'm adding some "parking spaces" on each base to make it easier for people to get our of the vehicles and onto dry land. Along with these, I'm giving them more of the feel of dock. I also solved the warthog blocking problem. Most of the problems will be fixed, and v2.5 should be up pretty soon! Anybody have some suggestions as to how to improve the aesthetics of the map? [br][/br]Edited by merge: Hey guys, most of your requests have been taken, and put into v2.5, which can be found here.
