Earthbound has one of THE best stories ever and in my opinion is the best RPG to grace the SNES. Dude, Wind Waker is the real hidden gem in the LoZ series. Everything else just gets outshined by Ocarina. Got the game on Black Friday morning at midnight, played multiplayer 'til 6 a.m. Wanted is so damn fun; it's like a ninja battle royal in broad freakin daylight! Another modern game I think is underrated is NBA Jam. It's everything I loved from the old SNES arcade styled version and more. Even my friends who hate basketball and related video games loved the pick-up-and-play feel of it. One of the better party games to grace the 360. A less modern game would have to be Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. There are times when I played that game that I seriously enjoyed it over Ocarina of Time. The story was great, I loved sailing on the Great Sea, and the game was just memorable from start to finish.
Hell yeah.. The Warriors was a bad ass game. I loved Shadowrun and just recently dusted it off and started playing again. YouTube - SHADOWRUN TRAILER E3
A game that I just recently downloaded off of Games on Demand is Red Faction: Guerrilla. I really regretted selling it and just had to play it again once I saw it. This game did the one thing that I always wanted to see in a game ever since I was a little kid. You could destroy everything in this large, open world down to each chunk of brick with extremely fun physics. It was a new spectacle every time you took down a building and never got old. It also had amazingly fun weapons like a miniature nuke, an electric arc reactor, a nano-disintegration gun, and the brutal and iconic sledgehammer. Sure, the game had a throwaway story with lousy voice acting and sometimes hilarious AI, but this was the ultimate DGAF game where you would run around for hours destroying military bases with brute strength and strategic explosions. The game also had some of the most original and skill based multiplayers I've ever played. The backpacks really allowed for extremely varied types of gameplay while still allowing you to change tactics on the fly.
Are you serious..? It's one of the best I've seen. I love the soundtrack and it displays the abilities very well. Stop trolling woman.
On shadow run it was pretty good game must of been because Reach took a few tips from it even though i had the demo and NEVER found a game online . And I expect it was because of advertising I never heard of the game till i randomly found it in arcade. I reckon Alien vs Preditor was a pretty underplayed game which was very fun. These game makers need to learn advertising is VERY important to make a successful selling game.
pc: Company of Heroes, great game. I don't know if it flopped per se, but I think it never really got the attention it deserves.
Lol, Shadowrun is so cheap to buy now it may as well be free. If you havent played it, pick it up. You will always get matches, simply because A) Its got a huge fanbase and B) Cross Platform means more players. As for the demo, no one played it because the game is so cheap. Do yourself a favour and buy it. Another one already mentioned is Alien Vs Predator. That game sold little, and got poor reviews. I avoided it because more than one person said it sucked. However, its one of the best MP games I have ever played, and the campaign isnt half bad either.
Mechassault 2. The first one was recieved better than the others, and the Mechassault series are overshadowed by the Mechwarrior series. However damn good game. Also, I'm very pissed about Mechwarrior 5. It got delayed by a lot because a Mech in the initial preview, the Warhammer, looked similar to a mech from another company's game. So that company sued, and the work on the game has slowed to a crawl. Sadface... Anyway, here's that trailer. YouTube - MechWarrior Full Debut Trailer [HD]
Definitely not underrated but Bioshock is underplayed I think. Same goes for Fire Emblem on the GBA. great games
Wow, I cant believe Timesplitters hasnt been mentioned. Given, its a last gen game, but still. It was an amazing and fun series of games. And War of the Monsters is another great oldie, which I doubt many of you havent heard of. Epic monster mashing game!
Star Wars Republic Commando. ****ing incredible game. I'm still hoping they'll remake it or make a sequel one day. :C
Correction: Reach came close to borrowing from Shadowrun, in that the latter had bloom which actually punished poor RoF judgement . Either way, any similarities likely have something to do with Sage Merill (lead sandbox designer for Reach) also being one of the guys who worked on Shadowrun. But I agree that it's a textbook underrated game, I paid £4 for it on amazon and would have gladly paid standard game retail price. I don't play it too often but when I do I have a blast, even though I suck. As for other games: Blacklight: Tango Down was a hella fun XBLA game even though it had some real flaws. I say 'was' because you can still get a game but these kinda games often die down pretty quickly from the initial rush and this was no exception. BF:1943 was another XBLA FPS classic, one which is still going stronger than BTD. Limbo has got to be my favourite XBLA game though, not sure if you could call it underrated with all the critical praise it got, but it could still do with more love if you ask me. Basically XBLA has some gems that always seem to be forgotten about a little too soon.
I recall playing an FPS star wars game, and I could never remember its name. I ****ing loved it. And now youve told me the name..... It was a great game, but its been so god damn long since ive played it... ALSO: Timesplitters was hardly underated. It sold quite well actually. If I could find any of my old copies Id still play it.
