Theres a reason we are paying for live. There are services we have which are better than others, and the connection on Xbox Live is much better than the connection on PSN. Also, Microsoft are greedy bastards.
I built a gaming PC for around $600 that can run any game I've played on max settings, which is cheap considering that I would have gotten a new computer pre-built for regular purposes for around $400. I consider this a reasonable price as the PS3 was $600 when it came out. Since the most intensive game for the PC came out 3 years ago, I don't see my PC getting that outdated for a while.
Your not being realistic with those prices. Sure it's a bargain getting your own pc built, but you can't get a pc that plays top-end games at max settings for $600 in my opinion. Taking into account the tower, power supply, cables, keyboard and mouse, on top of processor, graphics card, memory, motherboard and hard drive. You'd spend 200 dollars on all the cheap parts, and then buying 4gb of ddr3 ram, a 1gig graphics card and a new i7 processor is going to be quite a bit. That's discounting a monitor too, as you wouldn't get that either with a console.
The tower and cables were recycled from a computer bought 10 years ago, so I apologize, I did not consider that, although I'm sure most people can do the same thing. The mouse and keyboard can be bought for the same price as a console's controller, which is not taken into account when talking about the price of a 360 or PS3, so I did not add that on either. My PC is as follows, so my estimate was not far off. This actually CAN run almost any game on max at 60 FPS. I did not add on the cost of an OS, so that would be an additional $100.
Some of the most memorable moments of my life are playing split-screen Halo 2 games with my friends and family for hours on end. Something that could not be done on a PC.
Some of the most memorable moments of my life are playing Counter Strike on our favorite server with my friends for hours on end. Something that could not be done on a Console. thats the most ****ing ignorant post in this thread. goddamn, how ****ing retarded can you get?
yes you cant have that same experience but you can have LAN party's some of my best memories are 4 player age of empires LANs at my friends house
Your PC must have been pretty terrible. I've held onto computer longer than that without having to switch. And while we're on the topic of gaming on computers, I don't know why you'd bring up a Mac. A quick stroll through my local Apple store reveals that they have a very narrow selection for games. I'd also like to dispel the fact that PC's are extremely expensive. Are they more expensive than consoles? Yeah. But the reason people tend to think so is because they're going to large company websites like BestBuy and scrolling through their models. This is a huge mistake. If you want to save money but like the specs on a particular model you see in a store, you easily save around $200-$300 by getting a list of parts and buying them from a computer parts retailer like Newegg and building the computer yourself. They're obviously more expensive when you buy the from the store because the store has to make a decent profit, don't they? In all honestly, that's exactly what I didn't do because I'm impatient. I did just go into the store and buy the computer right then and there, and it turned out to be a great deal because paired up with my graphics card, it's a very decent computer. But looking into it after, I wouldn't have paid nearly as much had I just built it myself. People also like to argue that "you have to upgrade your computer every time a new graphics card comes out, or a processor comes out". That's pretty much bullshit. If you want to keep up with the newest models and not use it's potential for a couple years until some very graphics card reliant game comes out, then sure. But I bought a mediocre graphics card (GeForce 9600 GT) a few years ago, and I'm still playing very recent games on it on max settings (excluding games that require a large draw distance). If you're anal about having the best computer, then yes, it could be very expensive. But if you're casual like me and just want something that will run the games you want to play, then it's not expensive at all. I will eventually upgrade my card when it no longer runs what I want it to run, but for now I'm good. On a final note, you get what you pay for. The Xbox is cheaper because it's not using terribly great hardware. It doesn't really have to have much in it because it doesn't do what computers do.
I don't need to switch I build my computers, they're still more expensive. Haven't heard this, but I HAVE heard computers become outdated so quickly after many upgrades come out. But it doesn't all depend on the graphics card. Just a heads up, I play both computer and console games. It's just my computers first graphics card melted and I got sent a shoddy one, so the computer is held back by that. Low-textured maps in starcraft 2 aren't my favourite.
Thing is when it comes to buying parts for a computer, the prices change by so much, you can easily turn a profit or a loss depending on where you buy. Back when i had a shite computer, i bought the 8600gt card, and when looking on the internet, prices changed from about £100 to £40. I managed to pick it up for £35 in the end, so saving $130 just by picking the right website. It wasn't bad anyway, i could play Oblivion at high detail (with a few performance mods) and also World In Conflict, which is still a technologically superior game.
No. Console gaming is for people who have friends and like to chill in the living room having some games of halo once in a while. PC is for the hardcore, so I guess if you're into gaming like that then yeah it might be better.
I have to agree to a certain amount with this. You cant really chill while playing PC, but you can while console gaming.
Eh. I've been able to chill while playing PC, and I've been able to chill while playing PC with friends. It's not about the system, it's about how you like to play. I play PC, but I don't like to really play hardcore. In fact I hate playing hardcore. A console is more accessible, but that doesn't mean it's more for a relaxed game.
I disagree in my opinion it easier to chill on PC with all my stuff in one place. also: Steam Community :: Group :: Forge Hub
