    Sequence
    Created by iTs_NeXn

    Recommended Players: 2-4
Required Gametypes: Sequence 1v1 (Slayer Variant), Sequence 2v2 (Slayer and Objective Variants)

Sequence takes place in the Coliseum which makes for a dark, eerie feel that contrasts the bright feel of most maps. NeXn uses death barriers to the fullest to create ‘death pits’. This asymmetrical layout puts the average design to shame. It consists of a series of differing areas strung together by height variation, walkways, lifts, teleporters and jumps. There is even a ‘jump pad’ which is essentially a lift that only works when the player jumps on it. These transitions offer many opportunities and keep the gameplay flowing. The map proposes a creative gameplay experience for 1v1 and 2v2 games that is balanced, competitive and fun.

The overall weapon set suggests balanced gameplay. For example, the Spiker is an effective weapon against Overshields. Sequence also offers other weapons that can be a center of conflict and advantage such as the no-clip snipers, the grenade launcher, and the team-games-only Rocket Launcher. This set provides a great competitive experience that fits in well with the map’s geometry and gametypes.

The gametype that is coupled with the map offers an altered starting loadout which utilizes the DMR and Sprint Armor Ability. The DMR ups the ante a bit while the unlimited Sprint provides a new way to play. Sprint enables the player to have more jumping opportunities in addition to the increase of speed. The sound made by Sprint creates a risk versus reward scenario. Other sound cues play a part in the map’s dynamic such as the spawning of the Powerups. Two Custom Powerups acting as Overshields are located on the map in varying spawn times and positions, one as the ‘High OS’ and the other as the ‘Low OS’. What's unique about these Overshields are the burnable and stackable qualities. ‘Burning’ an OS occurs when a player’s shields have been affected right before the player picks up the Overshield. The damage to the player’s shields cancels out the additional shield. The gametype allows for ‘stacking' of shields which means picking up more than one OS allows for adding more than one overshield. A player is able to acquire up to four extra shields.

NeXn's map is an example of how forgers can not only create fun maps but an actual experience. Sequence excels in the different map design aspects, and NeXn does a great job of tying it all together. Sequence is worth a download for any Halo player, but you don't have to take my word for it. Let the map speak for itself.

Holy ****, holy ****, holy ****, jizz, jizz, jizz

might get infracted for that, but it's worth it.

Love the map, perfect example of a well thought out design executed to perfection in forge, which given forge's limitations is outstanding.

If there is a lesson to be learned here, which means don't copy, it is that you must think about the player moving on the map and not, as is often the case, put the pieces together in forge til they fit right and luk good.

    So much depth in it...

Ha. Well, I can't say this isn't expected. Of all the maps featured so far, this map deserves it more than anything else. Fantastic job, I can't wait see more maps from you, NeXn.

Even before I understood the jumppad, the overshields, the gametypes, everything, I was very impressed by this map. Once I dl'd and studied it more, finally understanding it, I was blown away. This map inspired, two of my maps IN A ROW. Fantastic map. Truly feature worthy. Congrats Nexn.

I have played this map so many times before and am glad it got featured. The maker did an excellent job of providing the perfect balance between all situations and the gameplay is amazing. The jump pads are my personal avorite because they add a nice twist to the game. Also, all of the sounds have been driving me crazy. With the jump pads to custom powerup spawing to even shooting, I get distracted a lot. Congrats for the featured map again. I though of this map not being able to get feature purley because of how unnoticed it was, but now Im glad. Great Job!

Nice job NeXn, I've been wondering how much longer till this makes the front page. Definitely one of my top 3 favorite competitives so far in Reach.

This is a very well deserved feature.

I'm worried that jump pads will be the new 'trees' though.

Just the kind of map I like. Something that isn't far from usual so its still familiar enough, but forces most "good" gamers to change something about their style so that repetition is not equal to skill. This way, as long as both players are equal in the sense they know the layout, are not resorting to refined tactics based on logging more hours than the other. Something that makes you think.

While I find the areas look amazing I'm gonna go against the heavenly write up and say I felt the map felt rather large for 1v1, even with unlimited sprint. It might have been due to the person I played with, but I found there to be more camping and didn't see all that much advantage to constantly traversing around the map. Granted I played a version of this map several weeks ago, so perhaps weapon layout has changed.

Great map, but I had a problem with the "pits" in it. The kill zone areas in the bottom all really look like they were a part of the map, and that i could jump down and be safe. There really needs to be something down there to show players that "this part of the map is off limits".

Other than that one minor detail, i have nothing but praise for you. This Sir, is the automatic transmission of halo: reach maps. I just wish i could've beaten you to it.

    Such an epic win.
Anyway Im glad that this map is featured. Because its a featured map with NO TREE! Would this could be considered a technical map?

Definitely worthy of a feature. There are a lot of tactical jumps, and the map itself kind of reminds me of good old Damnation. Great for 2v2. Not to mention the map looks wonderful! Congrats.

You really didn't see the tree in this map? It is so obvious, it's not even funny and yes I would consider this more of a technical map.

Thanks for the feature. I'm very glad you guys like it. Truthfully, I didn't think many people would like the new play style this map promotes, but I'm stoked you guys do, as I'm going to be releasing a few new maps that follow this style of changing your play style from the typical Halo.

For the people who are confused about the death pits; trust me, if I had budget I would've added one way shield doors at the bottom, as that was my original plan, but they're just too expensive.

    Also, for the people who haven't seen it;
How to Make a Jump Pad - Use them to death, as I absolutely love them.

And again, thanks a lot for the feature. :)

edit: ^^wow, brilliant second post. You'll go far.^^

The simple fact that there are no ways out of said pit should be enough of a slap in the face that you shouldn't go there. Plus it's ALWAYS a good idea to check out a map in forge first before you play it. :)

Great feature, and NeXn puts us all to shame with his design and aesthetic touches that make the map seem like it shipped with the game.

I think it's best to speak for yourself. No I don't say this out of jealousy or whatever, but there are other maps out there that stand up to this map or even surpass it in terms of layout.

It's all personal opinion of course. But one should never speak for other people.
