EDIT: I did this in 2008 and got a lot of replies, but never got around to it in 2009. Well, after what I consider one of the greatest years of gaming this generation, I just had to do it. In this thread, everyone will will nominate games that they think are deserving of the Game of the Year award. These can be any type of game on any gaming system, but they must be full games, not downloadable add-ons. Everyone will be allowed to nominate a maximum of three games for this award. Changes can be made at any time through editing your post, as the nominations will not be counted until the end of the deadline. Nominating the same game more than once will not result in more votes. In order to get an idea of the games that came out this year, here is a list of some of the best selling and reviewed games of 2010, however nominations are not limited to these games: Red Dead Redemption Mass Effect 2 Halo Reach Super Mario Galaxy 2 NBA 2K11 God of War 3 Bayonetta Splinter Cell Conviction Bioshock 2 Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Minecraft Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Limbo Super Street Fighter 4 Alan Wake Heavy Rain Starcraft II Kirby's Epic Yarn Fallout New Vegas Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Final Fantasy XIII Fable III Just Cause 2 Rock Band 3 Call of Duty: Black Ops Nominations will end 2 weeks from today, Thursday, December 2nd. Discussion is allowed in this thread.
Halo Reach Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Red Dead Redemption Most of these are all really good games, Black Ops probably would have come 4th for me, but I think Reach stands out the most overall due to the incredible replay value and IMO should get FH's game of the year..
I would have liked to, but counting nominations for a dozen categories would have been too much work for one person in one thread. Me and Randle Scandal attempted it in 2008 after my initial GOTY award, but it didn't go too well.
Split Second Halo Reach Don't include Fable 3, it has very few side quests, a short storyline, horrible leveling up, not one interesting fight, the last boss was a joke, a small amount of weapons, horrible online game play, and quite repetitive dialog, with the same old jokes and interactions.
Yo dawg, he said three games at max. You picked four. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Oh, and for my nominations.. Halo Reach Alan Wake Minecraft
Halo Reach Red Dead Redemption Mass Effect 2 Why is Minecraft there? Its an amazing game, but it isnt finished, therefore cant win...
Like Camofo said, you need to narrow it down to three nominees. Well, Minecraft has gotten pretty popular around Forge Hub, so I knew not including it would upset a lot of people. Plus, I said in the OP that it simply has to be a full game rather than just an add-on. If you buy Minecraft, it is its own standalone experience. Sure, it may still be getting constantly updated, but so is World of Warcraft and any other MMO.
True but still, in reality, It cant win. Thats like giving Halo Reach game of the year back in May. A game that isnt released cant win. Although if it was finished, it would surprise me if it didnt win...
Minecraft is practically finished, how different do you think it's going to get? This isn't the official GOTY anyway.. it's a insignificant, ForgeHub voting thread. Minecraft is staying, stop crying. :]
Mass Effect 2 Red Dead Redemption Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood A tough contender for 3rd place was Fable III for me, I know a a lot of people didn't like it, but I enjoyed it thoroughly, I thought it was well done, and the only major problems are things that can be fixed, such as bugs. Besides that those three were tough to choose in what order, this has been a great year in gaming.
Really good choices. I haven't gotten AC yet, but I'm dying to play it. And I agree that it's really hard to choose just three games, let alone the order they would go in for this year. It was just a great year for games.
Mass Effect 2 (Best RPG '10) Halo: Reach (Best Overall Game '10) Heavy Rain (Best Story '10) Shout outs to (In Order): Alan Wake (Amazing Story) Minecraft (Price + Replatability) Starcraft II (10 Years was well worth it) Blur (Possibly one of the greatest racing games I've ever played)
I'm guessing not a lot of people have heard about the amazing little game at the top of my list. It's a very unique indie horror game. Amnesia: The Dark Descent Halo: Reach Battlefield: Bad Company 2
