I think it had something to do with Buck's cameo, that was on the same level and I must say a little disappointing.

I understand how some people may not have recognised it straight away, I know I didn't. I walked in and was distracted the Hunters and the fancy lighting holograms they have in future clubs, I only noticed as I was walking out.

Jupiter, I know there's Crater and Ivory Tower, but is the hospital a remake of anything?

I don't see anything lazyabout paying an homage to past halo games. I think we can assume that, based on the fact that every other campaign space is completely unique to Reach.

    fine "lazy" isn't the right word. "unimaginative" maybe would be better.. I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but i feel the people who designed the levels focused more on good realistic building design rather than how the levels would propagate great gameplay. Its not until the less realistic settings (covenant ships, underground research facilities) did I see the unique scenarios and "smooth" gameplay. I have just noticed that bungie - throughout the halo series - has many times recycle old gameplay encounters and multiplyer levels. You could call it homage.. And in New Alexandria, you would be right. But then, what is it that separates 'copying something' and 'paying homage';

is it intention? Does intention really matter?

Yep. I'm surprised that more people didn't know, lol.

The music for your Buck escort is also from ODST, and I'm fairly sure it's an unlockable firefight level in a similar way that Foundation was earned.

similar note, i noticed "corvette" is the area at the end of the "deliver hope" trailer where the original noble 6 jetpacks to and detonates the bomb.

i'm betting everyone noticed that forever ago but thought i'd mention it anyway

Yup, I really doubt it was intended as an easter egg or a firefight map. Everything in Reach must be upscaled from prior Halo games to accommodate armor abilities such as Sprint and Jet-pack. Club Errara is significantly smaller than Crater from ODST. Not to mention there's a roof so the enemies' entrance points would be limited. Just more laziness on Bungie's part.

I was playing Legendary campaign so I was kinda busy rushing over to the switch and high tailing it. This needs to be added as a firefight map. Crater was a great map.

Well, I think that making a "copy" with unique aesthetics, style, and detail in a way that doesn't picture-perfectly copy a previous map, all for the sake of a three-or-four minute Campaign area is definately homage.

Now, this is assuming you're still talking about Club Errara. If you're thinking about the Matchmaking ripoffs, then I whole-heartedly agree.

How is it lazy? It is the same basic geometry maybe, but the scenery is superb, probably took a ton of work.

Yeah although I know it's still basically Crater, I did feel like I was in a club (well one from the Halo Universe at least).

Yeah, right? I love these people going on about how lazy bungie is, do you know how much work goes into making an area like that? You think they just pasted crater in the building, threw a roof on, slapped on a coat of paint, and voila? Look how different it is in scale, color, texture, lighting. I don't think any textures are the same. That takes a lot of work, even if it is similar to a previous map.

When I first saw this thread I thought "oh thats kinda cool". I didn't curse bungie for being lazy.

That is really cool. Didn't even notice that. Probably because I play (and played) very little firefight.

I think OPs got one of his viewpoints wrong. The turret should be across the pit from the DJ booth.

    Nice catch.

If you or anyone else could take a picture of Club Errara from the Generator side, it would be greatly appreciated. I've looked all over the internet, but nothing. I'd do it myself, but with no working controllers that's kind of difficult.

I did now notice that. Very nice find. I guess I would want it as a FF map because of the aesthetics. I think bungie should find a way to keep that dj brute in there along with the bartenders. Just dont piss em off. Anyone agree with me?

I noticed this the first time I played New Alexandria, and they are extremely similar (although not identical geometry-wise). i'm not really sure what to make of it.

I noticed it pretty immediately when I first walked in the room. Kind of obvious to me, I knew it when I saw the center piece. I mean, how can you not remember the centerpiece of your favorite FF map.

I also first believed they would put it as a FF map in a map pack, but with Jetpack it would be kind of too easy.

I don't think it's lazy on Bungies part, I'd say the design was implemented due to time constraints etc.
Also I did notice, but only because I played ODST too much.

It's not completely to scale, but the design is still the same. I've yet to complete New Alexandria in the Co-Op Campaign Playlist, because everyone ends up rage-quitting when the pilot of the Falcon, as always, tries to use the Phantom/Pelican glitch instead of continuing the level. I wish Bungie would have made Club Errara a Firefight map instead of just putting it in the Campaign. I mean, they did this with Reflection, Boardwalk, Countdown, and Powerhouse, so one more couldn't hurt.
