Watercolour is a medium sized map designed mainly for competitive gametypes like Team Slayer, Team Slayer Pro and basic FFA Slayer. The optimal number of players is 4-8, because of the small'ish size of the map (and the number of spawn points). Watercolour is located below the two large waterfalls in Forgeworld, and it's built over two large rocks pushing from the water. Most of the map stands above the waterlevel, but there are a few walkways wich allow you to go completely underwater when crouching (=huge advantage if you're using camouflage). High above the basic map, just below the cliff where the waterfall begins, is located the shotgun base, to where you can get through the teleporter which is in the center dome, or the "UFO". The receiver teleporter of the shotgun base is outside the Forgeworld's safe zone, so the counter starts ticking as you exit the teleporter. This is to prevent any unwanted shotgun camping by the teleporter. To get down from the shotgun base you can either use your jetpack or simply jump down to below platforms ment for descending. Above the "UFO" floats the glass rose, the last of the descending "platforms". It is also surrounded by a soft kill zone to prevent unwanted camping. The structures of the map are colorcoded to make it easier to navigate yourself through the map even in the heat of the battle. Among with the glass rose, the two towers on both sides of the map are the most visually appealing structures in the map. They are mirror images of each other, except the other has purple and the other green decorative lightsources hidden below the structures. Weapons in the map: (If I remember right ) Plasma pistol x3 Magnum x2 DMR x5 Sniper x2 Grenade launcher x2 Rocket launcher x1 Shotgun x1 Plasma grenades x12 Any feedback is appreciated, I would like to hear your opinion on the map since I'm planning on entering this map for the Bungie's Forgetacular contest. At the moment I haven't got the filmclip that is required to demonstrate the map in action. (=If you're interested in testing the map, send me a message in XBL, Gamertag: d4psa) I'm of course not going after the grand prizes, since I'm not even a citizen of USA, but I'd love to see this map in matchmaking some day.
I not so sure about competitive slayer :S. I like the middle bowl and the bases but it kind of looks you spent your time on those and not making elaborate passage ways.
I see why you're thinking that but I think (the map hasn't been tested thoroughly yet, so I can't really say for sure) that because of the small size of the map, you'll be able to get from one part of the map to another within just a few seconds, assuming you use your armor abilities like sprint or jetpack. And even if you'd rather use some other armor ability like camouflage or armor lock, I've designed most of the map so that each level or walkway is within one or two normal jumps. And which you probably didn't notice from the screenshots, there are two mancannons embedded in the two bunkers on both sides of the map, which will throw you to the green or purple towers.
