Just as the title says. Club Errara, a hip and happening place with a famous Easter Egg, is actually the living embodiment of Crater, a firefight map from ODST. Don't believe me? Well, check out these pictures and tell me what you think. Personally, I believe this is just Bungie's way of adding another homage to previous games. They take the same basic loadout, but spice it up to an extreme, giving observant fans something to notice. Oh, and by the way, the first person that figured this out to my knowledge is our very own Cory21. Thanks Cory, and all credit for helping me figure this out goes to you. Here's an entrance shot of Club Errara: And here's the same view over Crater:
*checks the date* Yup, you're about 2 months late to the party. There were tons of threads on Bnet about this back in September. There aren't so many now because its so obvious, its not like its a hidden area, its part of the gameplay.
Damnit. Oh well, it's about time this information resurfaced. Besides, from what I can see, there's a good few new members who don't know about this yet. We might as well keep it.
I think the question here is did Bungie hide it in there, or were they just ripping skeletons from ODST and slapping them on Reach?
Yeah, noticed it relatively quickly when I got there. It's pretty well remade here, but I don't remember having sweet raves on Crater. Even at night.
1) They didn't play ODST. 2) They don't like Crater. 3) Four Hunters! 4) They didn't really bother noticing the similarities.
It's funny; I spent 8 hours in my very first firefight game on Crater (first run was a marathon run), and I didn't notice that Club Errera was designed the same way until Shadow pointed it out to me maybe a month ago. Maybe I was too immersed in the campaign playthrough to notice. Needless to say, I facepalmed.
Yeah I noticed it right away, and Crater wasn't even one of my favorite FF maps. maybe it was because I stayed in that club for far too long looking at the lights.
In between thoughts of "Oh ****. Hunters." I did notice that it was similar on the first go. That mid level outcropping on the right side reminded me of it but it didn't strike me that the whole room was Crater until my second run through the next day.
Yup! Every "room" in that level is spiritual successors of something or another. Bungie's level design crew has gotten lazy over the years I've noticed. Oh and I didn't really think about this until I got to the Ivory Tower remake....
