Here's a tutorial I made for this. I hope this helps you in your map! YouTube - Make Turretless Tanks (APC's) in Halo Reach (for use in your map) I would really appreciate it if you subscribed to my channel, I have more videos like this to come. This trick will be used in TrenchWars 2 and you guys can use it in any map you want! Thanks. EDIT: So you can envision how much damage the APC can take, we did a test in both an unmanned APC and an unmanned tank. The tank took eight frag grenades, and the APC took four. (Grenades were thrown underneath each vehicle)
that is VERY AMAZING. im thinking of putting this in one of my upcoming maps. only if the APC was stronger and not on fire
Thanks everyone. We are working towards a version that isn't on fire, (or damaged) along with a turret-less warthog, done in a similar fashion. Hopefully we can get those tested soon.
It's neat, but it seems a bit unconventional for custom games. For example, I'd imagine it'd be pretty awkward to place. Also, if I were playing a custom game and I saw that thing laying around, I'd rather go on foot. Getting into that thing during an invasion game would be a death sentence.
It's a shame about the smoke (it's not on fire!) but there isn't a way to do this without damaging the tank in some way. In the meantime, it would be a great addition to say, an infection game. You won't be giving the humans a full fledged tank, but instead something a bit beat up and weaker. Think of this more as the missing link between just blowing off the turret and actually spawning the tank like that. Thanks though, for the comments.
Did the tank fall onto the landmine correctly? Was the custom game settings set for invincible vehicles?
I've been using this trick on a map of mine. I used to have a fusion coil spawn above and fall on the tank, but I found that you can just spawn a tripmine inside the back of the turret and it works beautifully. Very helpful
Oh im sorry I get it now: I did that in forge then took it apart. I didn't realize you had to have the weird set thingy on the map. I get it now.
if you hold a vehicle, for example a scorpion, and move it toward a land mine, in this case, the turret and main gun will fall off. Using this method, I tested every vehicle but only the scorpion and wraith are affected.
I have an idea me and my friend were play around and I droped a warthog into a kill ball we deleted it and saw that it's turret blew off. My idea is that if we made an invasion map with a room with a few vehicles and a kill ball spawn thein a certain sequence the door and kill ball are removed.
Why did you remove the video? From what I've read you are spawning them on tripmines? What about setting to invulnerable and just dropping them through a kill ball on spawn?
Invulnerable vehicles behave differently in Reach than they did in Halo 3. In Halo 3, if you shoot an invulnerable vehicle all of that vehicle's armor would break off but the vehicle never exploded. In Reach the invulnerable vehicle never loses a single piece of armor; it stays intact indefinitely. This also means someone in a Tank or Falcon or any vehicle with an enclosed cockpit is untouchable. This really destroyed some ideas I had, but I'm working around it.
