Welcome to Horizon, the much-improved sequel to Halo 3's Skyline. The objective is to be the last person on the hill, how you go abouts doing so is where the game gets interesting. You can push, splatter, block, juke, shoot, form an alliance, punch, betray you alliance, carry, barrel roll, t-bone, pacify, abandon ship, say the landmines are delicious pancakes, I don't care! Just as long as they get off your hill. Playing this game you will quickly notice that there is no shortage of collisions, explosions, and memorable moments. Don't trust me? Go out there and play it! the gameplay speaks for itself.

    Map Download
    Average game length: 15-20 minutes
Only 8 warthogs to use, with parties bigger than 8 the players take turns.
    No honor rules

I was a huge fan of Skyline in Halo 3, I can't wait to test this one with my friends :D
Oh wait. They're all playing Black Ops.

Hog The Hill: Skyline was an amazingly fun map for my friends and I, and with the addition of landmines it seems even more fun. I'm going to have to playtest this first, tho.

Just wanted to extend my thanks to the creator of this map and gametype.

Me and a bunch of my friends played this about 10 times last friday night, Its so much fun, such a good twist on the great halo gameplay!

I did edit a couple things though, thought you might think about them for your copy of the map.

Currently if everyone dies at the same time, or the last two die, you just sit in that box with nothing to do, and this happened the first time we played so to fix that, I went in and edited the gametype to now have 10 two minute rounds. This seamed to really keep the gameplay moving, and turned out to be just about a perfect timing, you can always lower the ammount of rounds, but we were playing alot so we kept it at Ten.

Also the spectating room for people who had died, was allowing people to jump through the front wall, Which wouldn't be a problem except that if the problem that had happened before, meaning, the remaining players died simultaniously someone could then jump out the front of the room, and it would give them the hill control during their fall causing the round to end (And a cheap way to score), SO to fix that I added another Glass Cover to the front of the room.

I've also created another map for this gametype since that night, I honestly LOVE this gametype.

So thanks mr Originator. This shiz was awesome!

You are very welcome, I'm glad you like it. And thank you for the feedback.

And the good old draws, they have been a problem since the beginning of this game. The way it is right now is not optimal, but it seems better than the alternatives. Setting a time limit means that games will be ended early or if its a draw the party is in for a wait, and with the glass people don't have the option to kill themselves and watch with the follow camera. The only problem with the current system is if there's a draw the point is awarded to who jumps off first, and that really isn't a big problem. What you're saying doesn't seem like that big of an improvement, getting your game cut off seems like it would suck.

Again thanks for the feedback. I'm totally open to discussion, let me know what you guys think!

Well, I dunno, i like the time limits, We're yet to have a single game end with two people left on the map, And with the time limit When everyone dies, yes they have to wait, but its less than 2 minutes. but with the current gametype you had, we waited even longer. in fact I dont know when it would end, Unless someone jumps out front, Which then gives a point to someone who didn't even win.

And I had actually thought about the option to watch with the follow camera, One thing that i did to fix that, At least in my hog the hill map (The Pig's Pen) is include a launcher out of the back of the viewing room that launched people Away from the action so that they could watch with the follow camera.

Either way, Its cool if you dont include these changes, I'm just saying for people like myself, There's some very easy to make changes to the gametype that help make it a more fun experience

tbh I really didn't enjoy this version as much as the old. The games dragged on forever and it was very difficult for people to die once things narrowed down. We also ran into a problem where people died before they even got out into the course because there was such a huge dogpile coming out of the entrance.

I agree with everything said here. The original was fantastic and kept gameplay flowing nicely. This version would've been better if:

1.) The play space was smaller.
2.) The starting area is either bigger or the exit is wider to allow players to get out before the 10 second death.

I would definitely keep the landmines though. They added another element to stay away from the edges.

Hmm yeah I think you guys are right. I've never really experienced these as big problems, thats why external feedback is so important. Generally very one out of ten rounds a guy would get stuck in my parties, and was more entertainment for everyone else than a real problem. Regardless the entrance could be widened.

And the size, I agree. I considered this before but didn't want to remove any part of the field, they're all so cool, especially the cliff. If I find the time to play some Reach there will be some changes made.

Played it in TGIF had alot of fun. Party enjoyed it all very much. But we all agreed that it need a time limit me and Devinish killed eachother and we were the last two so the game just would never have ended. You can either do that or remove multiple lives so it would just end the round if no one is alive. But again we had a blast on it.

First posted hog the hill map. I've made some prototypes, but his one works best.

The idea is that when you both respawn, you both jump off ending the round probably much quicker than a time limit would. And the problem with one life is that if you killed Devinished instead of pushing him off the round would end immediately and you wouldn't get the points.

As for the wider entrance, I'd possibly do that with a new map, using a totally different entrance system, but not for this one, too lazy :p

I loved skyline in Halo 3 and this is a huge step up! This map creates good moments when you lure someone off the cliff or shove them into a landmine. The map is great for casual and competitive people. I had a lot of fun and this map and will play it in the future. Good work!
