It's more than likely because you've been staring at, and got accustomed to, the Reach lobby screens, which have a dark color scheme. Although, I do agree it flashes up pretty abruptly. And the MAJOR thing I am happy about is how the virtual keyboard feels. Much more responsive and intuitive. Makes me actually want to send typed-out messages, in comparison to voice messages.
I strongly agree, and thank god. I hate sending voice messages because i sound like im five years younger on xbox live -_-
Really yoyo? I sound like either an uber nerd or a 40 year old in his moms basement whenever i send voice messages, and yes i am being serious, there is that big of a difference in the quality at times. BTW i am neither 40 years old or an uber nerd. Just kinda nerdy. I personally dislike how the premium themes that had bottoms that went with them are now half covered up like my odst premium theme. And the brightness of everything, I hate the brightness.
^^ this. I'm not the type of person that usually complains when things get changed. I always feel like most people just complain for the sake of complaining, or simply because it's change, but I have to say I really don't like the new dashboard. It does feel like it's trying to pander to the younger gamers. I'm fairly hopeful though that MS will release new themes. I mean they have to, right? Wait, do our old themes still work? Or are there some new default themes to flick between now? I have to admit I haven't looked into it in enough detail. I think I'll check that out when I get back home. There may already be a "darker" theme available, just not selected by default.
IMO you should be able to change the color scheme. For example, if you changed the color scheme to red, all the menu squares, the guide, etc. will become red instead of white. That way no one can complain about the overuse of the color white and the Wii-like features.
It doesn't really fit my tv ( as in, looks uneven) and it's really noticeable if there is a bend in the picture.
I think it's so bright because the majority of people with kinect will be playing in a well lit room, not a dark basement like myself. Because of the contrast, it looks near polar in intensity.
I don't like it all I would have to say the voice quality is the only good thing that came out of the update.
I just like complaining because i always see the worst in everything and everyone, because im the only perfect creation on this earth so far And yes, it totally agree that its trying to pander to the young children. However, they are actually a huge part of the audience and its not like the mass of adults+teens who use it for games and movies are going to stop paying for service because of a totally useless aesthetic update. Although, upping the live price because of netflix and kinect updates is total bullshit. The fact that it costs money to use an OPEN network in the first place is kinda lame, but making it more expensive on a product that already returns an infinite % of revenue (because the annual loss of a network for them is NOTHING) is just too much.
I am totally hating this update, I 100% prefer the old one better, plus I really don't get why they have to change everything to fit around a crappy Kenect thingy that is basically just a ripoff of the eyetoy, and that's just a toy for casual gamers, many of which don't have live anyways...
