Obviously Rusty went right forging the map where other have gone wrong. Congratulations on the feature Rusty.
No, no, no, no. Your putting words in my mouth. I said I can name 5 maps that are MORE FEATURE worthy than this one. By feature worthy I mean it looks good AND plays well. If the next featured map is map with a tree and/or its been created by a well known member who is friends with the staff then Im going to leave foreghub.
Thank you for submitting your five 'better' maps for review, we will take them into consideration. I would also like to point out that SoG Grim really isnt a well known forger who was friends with the staff, he just happened to have the most recent Halo 3 feature before the giant brute was made so bringing him up is stupid; he got his TWO features, back to back, on different games, with no relation to the people choosing the maps. And quite frankly, there isn't much that can be featured. We can't do something right after its posted because it needs time to ease into existence, so that disqualifies about 10% of the maps. It also has to be nearly perfect, a fact which disqualifies another 85% of the maps. And that last five percent just happens to be made by the people who understand forging, who know how to make a good map, and understand how to make a map get known.... how interesting that they get featured again. If you are bitching about forgehub because of two features that just HAPPEN to use the same aesthetic piece, and just happen to be made by known forgers (aka people who know how to build a map,) and just happen to know the staff, well i don't even know what to say. "Goodbye community based site that is about learning not showing off. I just decided that a few moments of digital fame for somebody else are enough to make me flip ****. Seeya!" And are you for real? Give me a single reason that this map didn't deserve to be posted, a single valid reason, and i'll eat my words. Also, anymore comments that don't relate to the map itself need to go here. Don't be an ass to Rusty just because you got your panties in a bunch.
The next person to say something not directly related to the map will receive an infraction. For discussing front page posts use the Front Page Feedback
I really like this map. It's very open and breezy, and it's impressive how well the the slight changes in elevation all fit together. I know we're done with treechat but I think this map would've suffered had the trees not been used. Maps in forge world are all big gray blobs. Trees are distinct landmarks that make it that much easier to form a mental image of the map. Seeing this map's two trees sitting across from each other made the symmetry of Impound instantly click into place for me. Rusty used aesthetics effectively in this map and he should be recognized for it. Trees are an obvious choice, another useful tool in our belt, and shouldn't have any special emphasis placed on them. We're all limited by the canvas Bungie's given us. Cannibalizing the few aesthetic pieces we have is a bad idea.
I like the map alot. I think this is better than the other 4 versions I have seen too, so I know you put alot of work into this map. It was good to see you do what you wanted but couldnt in Halo 3. Good job bro.
He sure gave you one hell of a rusty eagle last night... Aight man. I'm going to check this map out and review it in "my own style" like I USED TO!
Glad to see the tree hating has died down. You can search through the custom map section all day and not find a map that plays better than Impound. The countless amount of time spent testing really does show in both aesthetics and gameplay. To the people who for one dumb reason or another hate trees, they actually do several positive things for this map: 1. They add color! Without lights, these Forge World maps start to blend together, due to a lot of uni-color pieces. Seeing a vibrant green really helps break that up. 2. They act as a simple yet very useful LOS blocker. It may not happen every game, but those trees can save your life. They were also used (when I tested it) as a callout. 3. They look ****in' cool when implemented correctly. And in case you didn't notice, rusty did a great job incorporating them. Great map rusty, hope to see this make it's way to Matchmaking. We all know it needs a map like this.
To Everyonee: Trees are as cliche as Forge Worlds dirt and rocks and water. Nature rules so deal with it. I tell you what...I will give whoever discovers a prop that offers an LOS barrier that let bullets pass through it a 1500CR bonus after their next Matchmaking game!
Damn, I downloaded this with the expectation of having the lord himself come down and grant me the power of neverending pleasure. Sadly, I downloaded the map and it was kind of just... Average. Nothing revolutionary, nothing to make it stand out... It's just refined. This is precisely why bungie needs to start acting like valve and allow people to make there own maps from scratch. No, it isn't a mod bungie. It's just another map. I hate how all maps look similair!
