Plus technically Jorge could have survived, he was sent into slipspace to a certain point, and it is possible that he survived the jump, especially if he put his dam helmet back on.
Here's what I thought: Gravity is lower in space, right? So a fall in space wouldn't hurt you that much, cuz you're not really "falling", you're just kind of floating.
*head desk* Physics fail. Lets just say, no matter what the reasons are (even though that back pakc thing he's wearing is pretty obvious), that Noble 6 survives and the game would have been cut short if he had died. Everybody happy with that?
Wow, really? Although he is in space to start off he still would have to reenter through the atmosphere of Reach, which we can assume is extremely similar to Earth. The reentry heat should have killed him in the first place (although he could have Armor Locked through that I guess) but to reenter into the atmosphere and hit the ground he would be falling at an extremely fast rate (which the drop pack thingy apparently fixes) The only thing unexplained is how he "fell" from the ship in the first place, because it didn't look like Jorge threw him down, but simply let him go, which means 6 should have just floated right next to the ship.
They were close enough to Reach to still be effected by its gravity. That's why satellites orbiting Earth have to fire boosters every once in a while or else they'll get pulled down to Earth.
its most assuredly a re-entry pack. there's a couple cut scenes where its almost spoilerish, WAY before they are in space you see it very clearly. one of noble team also mentions at some point that there is only one re-entry pack i've heard a lot of people express disbelief about this, but master chief did it as well? the reply: but he's master chief! they are all spartans. Chief wasn't made as the final most badass spartan, he became that because he was the last spartan. out of necessity
Very true, Chief was FAR from the last spartan made, he is a Spartan II, AKA the second batch of spartans juiced up. Noble team (apart from Jorge) are Spartan IIIs, AKA the third and final batch of spartans, sadly they all died in various encounters with the covennant before Spartan-117
Also, I like how armor lock, invisibility, jet packs, drop shields, energy swords, gravity hammers, stupid big apes with guns, vehicles that float on antigravity, shields, genetically engineered soldiers, and guns that shoot glass needles are all believable. One of these crazy motherfuckers survives a fall from space... and everyone's a skeptic? it IS a video game people, and a sci fi game at that. ever hear of suspension of disbelief?
Are you sure? I was under the impression that it was the exact opposite. All of Noble Team were spartan II's with the exception of Jorge who was a Spartan III, and that MC was a Spartan III. Perhaps I'm mistaken, I'm not sure of anything anymore :/
Nope, just double checked it up on halo wiki. MC and Jorge (052) were Spartan II's and the rest of noble were Spartan III's. What I remember from reading Fall of Reach a few years ago: It is possible for Spartans (in armor) to survive Earth/Reach terminal velocity falls. Its in the books, but more importantly it happens in Halo 3. "Fall Damage" is a game mechanic, one that was in the first Halo, but not in 2 or 3. They aren't just in powerful suits of strength-enhancing armor, their muscles and bones have been enhanced as well. Its actually cause of the suits that they had to be enhanced, because otherwise the suits would shatter their bones. This is all in Fall of Reach. Including a part where the MC survives an orbital drop after his own team takes out some covie ships above Reach. I recommend Fall of Reach, great for backstory on MC and the spartan program. Plus Cortana is badass in it!
In the books, if I remember correctly, their suits were pretty capable of reentering the atmosphere and high impacts. There was a gel layer that thickened up or something that somewhat protected the body. I think it was what gave the ODSTs their nickname "Helljumpers"
I think he survived using armor lock.I also think that's how Master Chef survived his fall at the start of Halo 3. To bad Bungie didn't make make that a feature of the equipment armor lock. It would be cool to be able to jump off cliffs and have it so that if you jump from a high enough altitude your impact would crush people under you.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't armor lock, and oh geez you want AL to have ANOTHER advantage? Its already the most unbalanced AA
agree armor lock doesn't need any more power hehe. wouldn't work anyway, makes sense that you can't activate in mid air since your player kneels down for stability
