    Arctic 'Splosion
Because 'Arctic Explosion was too long of a title.

    Download Map

I'd recommend playing this with CTF, Infection, Assault, and large team slayer matches.

This map originally started as an experiment to see if I could create a cannon that would launch fusion coils when a switch was set off, but then I decided I might as well go and finish the rest of the map too. The map pits two bases head to head, the two main structures built into the map linked together by teleporters, and a roughly built camp that features a cannon and power core launchers.

On one side of the camp is a watchtower post facing the enemy base, and floating about it is a cannon consisting of bridge pieces and man cannons. A switch located at the center of the base contains several fusion coils, and when destroyed the cannon begins to fire fusion coils until the switch fully respawns. Due to the random nature of how the game decides which fusion coils respawn, you may end up with anywhere from one fusion coil to six being launched.

    General overview of side A:

At the other side of the camp there isn't a fusion coil cannon; Rather, there's two power core launchers and a plasma cannon post hovering directly above it! When the power core switch is hit, two power core launchers on Side B and one on Side A will fire out a barrage of power cores that can be used as mines.

    General overview of side B:

To combat these, the other side is given a variety of vehicles, ranging from a pair of Mongooses to a Scorpion tank. Both sides are identical, except weapon placement within the bases are a little mixed up, and one side has a row of crates in front of it to prevent the aerial plasma cannon from hitting them too early.

General overview of the front of the base:

Although the camp is fairly well armed against intruders, the heart of their base is located directly in the center, meaning the other side can easily cut through the short cut instead of using the vehicles. Defenders of the base must take precautions so they're not caught off guard.

The center of the camp (The flag and bomb planting point is located at the back):

Rushing to the center could mean a nice reward, or death at the hands of someone who got there before you:

Along with all this several powerful weapons are strewn about the battlefield, and located near the camp is either a Spartan Laser or Missilepod, depending on which side you're on. Use these tools to take care of the onslaught of vehicles, particularly tanks, but be careful as these two weapons have a long respawn time.

And there you have it, Arctic 'Splosion. I don't play a lot of custom matches due to a lack of friends on live and this is only, what, the fourth map I've ever made, so I'm not quite sure if the map really is balanced or not. Feedback is appreciated, and I hope you enjoy.

I'd also like to thank Forgehub, considering without the forging 101 stuff I never would have thought about switch activated cannons. :p

doesn't look bad at all, I'll dl

I love being the first to compliment maps

how do you set off the switches?

I hate being the first to criticize.

you sure it's not a competitive map?

    this looks kinda wack
i doubt anyone will be standing on top of the towers puching fusion coils off of it
they're most likely gonna just snipe them or run out and shoot people

Just shoot the fusion coils/power cores that are inside the barricades to set off the cannons. I figure it's casual considering the cannons are pretty gimmicky. :p

If i read right i think they spawn in the air and launch by themself when you shoot the fusion coils in the barricades.

Yeah, that's what they do. Once the switch is set off the fusion coils will spawn on the back part of the cannon, roll down, and then hit the man cannons and go flying. In addition, due to random way the fusion coils spawn, sometimes they'll bump into each other as they're rolling down, altering their flight path. Because of this each launch could be different, from a single coil flying out and hitting the standard area, or an entire batch going out in all directions. Or, y'know, some of the coils being shoved off, causing a backfire to occur. :p

Yeah, I imagine that it'll lead to several bodies flying throughout the cavern.

Yeah, when I made it I had no knowledge of interlocking, which could have helped when I was building some of the walls and ramps.

I do hope it's fun to play on, although I honestly wouldn't know. I only have one friend online who has the map pack and he's never on. :x

I really haven't found any maps on the legendary pack that are really awesome, and I don't think this falls into that category either.

I will give you credit for making a map here though, many people have simply given up since it's not just a flat surface in a big square.

As for the map I'd have to say 7 ish outa 10, it looks like it'll play good, but it's not great.

Yeah, it's pretty irritating trying to do, well, anything on it considering the hills and whatnot. I didn't really expect this map to be very well praised, considering it was more or less an experiment.

    Looks okay.
It is a little small though.
You might want to expand it.
Also, there is no point of the fusion coils.
