Description: Rat Race is a map that is very nostalgic to me when I remember playing Halo: CE with my friends. Unfortunately you can't shoot down the overshield and camo, but you can pick them up with a jetpack! I did the measurements for Rat Race around a year ago, but never got around to making it. It would have been too sloppy in halo 3. Once I saw the reach pallet and the rocks I knew it was the perfect toolset to build the map. I actually did not do a sketchup for this though it matches the time scale exactly. It should feel exactly the same because the spawns are based off of the original, and time wise it takes the same amount to move around. If that's not good enough for you there's also a Classic version which has all original spawn locations and weapons. I remember testing this with you a few weeks back, and I must say, it is the best Rat Race remake out there by FAR. Everything is exactly how I remember it in Halo CE: The shields, the teleporters, even the cave, which you forged amazingly by the way. All in all, if you've played the Halo CE original, you will NOT be disappointed. 10/10, DL from me man!
Dang, this looks really good. Even tough I've never played the original map! But I can still tell it must be quite accurate. The only complaint is about the OS and AC, even though you cant shoot em down you should put them at jump height so you dont need a jet pack. Or you could put the physics on normal, stack them to the right height, then delete the blocks. Idk but it seems like you should be able to shoot em down. Nice job Micky
I actually tried making the os and camo normal physics and that didn't work. I considered making them jump-able but for some reason adjusting their coordinates was very unusual. So I had to stick with the best i could do.
I really agree with Dulden, making them only acquirable by jetpack is really unfair to the people using sprint (even though it screws the people with AL!! mwahahaha!) and totally takes them out of the equation in slayer pro. If its possible, you should lower them down to jump height for balance n' stuff. Also, that first pictures soooo epic, i have a hard time believing how accurate this map is. Ace of a job bro
First pic gave me a nerdgasm. When it comes to the power-ups, the camo is possible to grab with sprint if you jump from the bottom of ramp. Nywayz map was epic. Had hella fun testing it. Spawns were never an issue which is always a good thing. One of the better remakes I've seen in my time playing. Good job and good luck with Forgotten Treasures.

You can actually grab the camo without sprint if you jump correctly. The OS is just a bit too high to get without seriously lowering it, and I think it looks goofy like that. The consensus I got while playing was that players didn't mind that the OS and AC were too high to be grabbed. Thanks for checking it out. I'm proud that this is my most accurate remake.
Now this is one of those maps that I can consider a true remake as it's pretty much exactly like the original. When you load it up you instantly recognize it as Rat Race, so you've done a great job here capturing the feel of this map. Love how the cave is smooth and doesn't require you to jump every step like some other maps Great job.
having the dimensions exactly right is one thing, but accomplishing the "feel" is another. you did both with this map, and did an excellent job. as others above me have said, i instantly recognized my surroundings the first time i spawned in the map. i had no trouble remembering where things were, which way to go, etc. this was one of my favorite maps in CE. i miss the chaotic action that maps in CE had, and this map brings that back to me. i loved testing on this, and am looking forward to many more games on it. great job mick.
I'm working on this map myself, I really like all the detail you put into this one. One thing I'm not going to be able to recreate is the slanted walls near the floor. I also really like your use of FX, they add to the map without making it hard to see or move around. My map is going to stay bright and cheery though, were keeping the map as close to the original as possible, but adding windows for some really cool views.
I downloaded this via the recommendations and I have to say that it was very impressive. I like the attention to detail that shows in all of your maps (especially remakes) and this is a great example of that. Although I didn't play alot of Halo: CE, I still was able to recognize most of the map and was aware of my location on the map all the time. Nice work and good luck in the contest.
I played this in the Classic Playlist yesterday, and I was blown away. I haven't played the Halo CE version, but this feels like a great standalone map in its own right. The teleporters are expertly placed, and the rock tunnel was smooth and lovely to walk on. <3 this map.
