But all of these will have the fixed and phased weapons problem- if a player drops them or dies- these weapons will float in midair and will be unable to be picked up.

could do the samething using something like a fixed landmine with shield doors, than it would be proximity. or a fusion coil, than you would have to hit/shoot it. or you could use nades, so you automatically pick them up.
just set them to bad weapons so you wont care what happens to them.

I don't know if anyone's posted this yet but this is how to get weapons to drop spawn.

1- Put block down. A 1x1 short seemed the right height.
    2- Put weapon on block.
    3- Delete block.

    It's that easy.

Or you can place it on fixed just above the surface, then without picking it up, change it to normal physics.

I know, but it can still be useful in special circumstances.

@Pyro, if this happens the gun will then drop on a new round. <Insert name here> on another thread pointed out the way to achieve a floating weapon without all the glitchyness (I personally haven't tried this so I don't know if it works). What you must do is set the weapon you want to float to fixed, place it where you want to then pick it up. You must then swap it for another weapon (still as a Spartan/Elite) then you must turn into a monitor and to the weapon that was fixed (that you just dropped) you must select X and change it to normal. It sounds complicated and I'm sorry if it doesn't work.

    It doesn't.

It spawns in the air and then falls.

Thank you very much for this thread, I especially like the boat thing, I didn't know that! I will have to muck around with this a bit next time I am in forge :)

i have a theory, for making a symmetrical map, you can find where the points width wise are all 0 (can be done with height and length too, but for many maps having it with width only is best (this would give symmetry like MLG onlsaught has)) you then place an item on one side, and to translate it to the other side you will need to make the positive width a negative, or vice versa. this will not work with pieces that dont have width symmetry in the rotation you want to use it, so many buildings wont work, but blocks, dishs, inclines, etc. all should. you will also have to rotate items 180 degrees, but thats pretty obvious and you only need to do it for items that dont have 4-way symmetry.

if someone wants to make sure this is possible, that will be great. i dont have an xbox atm, so someone can use this. but im taking credit! jk, i dont really care. you can also do the whole process on other areas, but having it around a different width. there is an equation, but im out of school so not going to deal with that right now, but it is really simple. just cant think of it off the top of my head. if someone wants to do a full write up of this, we could have our first reach forge 101.

Target ( For training maps )

This is a good tactic when making training maps for clans and friends and other uses.

Take any flat based object like a collumn and place a land mine on it.
Make sure the land mine is on fixed or it wont work properly, It will just fall to the ground. You can have a maximum of 24 on a map. I used it on this map: Bungie.net : Halo Reach : File Details It can be used with any other explosives but it works best with the landmine.

Lot of people complain how slow the monitor moves in forge. Heres a technique for moving around place to place quicker than a falcon or banshee (obviously not as good as teles, but you dont just have those in every spot, do you?)

Spawn an object. ANY object. Use the right stick so that your monitor is orbiting around the object horizontally as fast as possible. Then, while still holding down the stick, delete the object. You should be flung across the map rediculously fast. (note: once you delete the object, you do not have to spin anymore) I can't tell you exactly when to delete the object to go in the desired direction, it is simply something you get a feel for.

it is the view you see at the very beginning of the game when choosing your loadout.

This is a great variation of one way shield door elevator. Placing the shield doors at an angle against a wall will push the player against the wall and by placing the shield door at an angle some of the force will also go up. Interestingly this can give the player a greater upwards velocity than horizontal shield doors. With this tech, even a single small shield door can make a tall elevator. Diagram below.

This guide is simply astounding, definitely deserves to be a sticky. Awesome collections of Forge techniques!

"It's all in the technique!" - Spongebob Squarepants

I would like to add that a very aesthetically pleasing and relatively cheap bench can be made out of two braces, given that you have plenty of room behind and below your bench that isn't in use. This technique was first used by Toastman in his map Embassy.

That's fairly easy to do with a few blocks. Why?

Not sure if this is really a forge tip or not, but if you download the infection Bungie uses for matchmaking, you can enable teams.
