Ok, so many people have been talking about campaign extensions. So I came up with a really cool idea: Covenant Campaign. It would be the same story as the normal campaign (or maybe a totally different story on a different section of Reach) but from an Elite's point of view. Instead of fighting alongside marines, you would fight alongside other Covenant, and instead of using Sprint, you would use Evade. I think this would be a great DLC and definitely worth the money. How bout you?
Not really that is mjust copying off of Halo 2 and the story should be more devoloped then it is.Remember this is a PREQUEL not a halo 4 or something like that.
I'm probably the ONLY one who thinks this would be a good idea, But instead of the normal campaign, it would be a new one, but it more sounds like it would be a different game.
I don't like it. Bungie tried this in Halo 2 and no one really enjoyed it. It was a nice way to get two points of view on the story, but it was just weird and really out of the way. Plus, one of the main things that makes being a human / Spartan more interesting is that the Covenant is a group of species that formed an army together. When you fight humans, you fight humans. We don't have any cool alien alliances.
In Halo 2, the story constantly switched between the Elite story and the human story, which got confusing. But with a whole separate campaign, there would be no real confusion. And @monkeyrantz on fighting just humans, you are half right. You would fight only humans, but remember all of the unique vehicles the humans have.
You also have to remember in Halo 2, you were following the arbiter who was fighting the flood and a very large chunk of the covenant. I mainly think the Reach storyline would be boring to play on the covenant side. They caught the military off guard and took over the planet. You'd mainly be slaughtering random citizens or attacking transports.
Ive thought about this for a long time. I definitely think Bungie should make a Covenant story. It doesnt have to be on Reach or about it or about the arbiter. It can be its own thing, maybe even give us some Covenant backstory or something.
NO. Gameplay in Covenant Campaign won't be like that. We should play as a Elite that has to face extreme odds just like you do as Noble Six. The characters you control in any Halo are always assisted by a samll squad or even alone. For example, if there would be a level where you have to defend a base, a cutscene would happen where most of your allies are killed and you're left with only 5 other Elites to fight off like 30 Humans.
In halo 2, when I found out I could play as an alien, going invis and using sword, it was awesome. It wasnt confusing at all. I would love to experience that again.
this would be uber. i always wanted it. sure it dosent have to be on reach but mabey you play as a minor and play through the halo wars working you way up to zealot and the final level would be on reach or during halo:ce and you die in battle all cool like noble six at the end of reach. and for firefight you fight humans and chose to play as elites, brutes, jackels, or grunts. same for matchmaking elites or brutes. ( spartains, mabey)
If this were to happen, 343 Industries would make it, not Bungie. It could be cool as a campaign extension, but I would like to see a full game. My idea is drop the humans all together and make a game based on one of the times where the Covenant has had to conquer a species. If I'm not mistaken, the battle to control the Lekgolo homeworld was a substantial one. Although, my dream idea would be to have a game where each level you fight as a different species of alien getting taken over by the covenant, mainly because I want to play as a drone. This could be a full game, or just a single player XBLA title.
If 343 takes it up somewhere in the distant past of the Covenant, perhaps during one of the various wars of conquest, or the Grunt Rebellion, or such, I'd probably give it a try. (Assuming they didn't Activision it) Playing as different Covenant species would be a fun addition to multiplayer, and could capitalize on stat modifiers that I so wish armor permutations had, versus pure aesthetic. (For example, Drones fly, Elites are shielded, and EOD is slow and cumbersome with greater damage resistance, while CQB is fast and nimble at the cost of protection) This I would like to see. For now, I'll file it under pipe dreams, and not think about it. If it happens, I'll check it out, for sure, but for now, I doubt it happens.
