    Map Updated 10/23/2010

    Progress update 10/26/2010: I've been playing around with the vehicle Setup in hopes of better role diversity. Some changes will be added after full playtesting. Here's some possibilities of thing to come:

    2 ghost have been swapped for 2 mongooses on each side, goalies have emerged in the form of shade turrets, rockets switched to fuel rod guns.

    Playtesters needed for sometime this weekend to run this new setup. The old map will remain up until we abuse the hell out of this new one. Once I feel the flow is smooth and (the most important part) players have a blast, I'll upload the changes. Pm me your gamer tag if you wish to participate, I'll keep you updated on the day and time of the testing.


    Smash, shoot and explode the ball into your opponents goal. Automated scoring mechanism (credit to Graybes for inspiring me)

    Currently 2 Revenants and 4 Ghosts per side. 10 minute rounds, 3 rounds. Players spawn and respawn in the skyboxes which are outside of the soft-safe area (to prevent camping in a safespot). I have yet to see the ball go outside of the map with the soccerball but it may still be possible (god I hope not...just imagine what it will take to cover that...)

    Update 10/23/2010: Wow, I didn't think it could be done, which is why I set off to do it. We now have an indoor Wart Court. I think I only had 10 or so credits in my budget. I didn't really care for using the grids, unfortunately the size demanded it. I hope its not too aesthetically unpleasing.

    Made a few other changes, the Revenant has now replaced the Gauss hogs and the soccer ball is now a golf ball. Due to the way the golfball plays, I may look into increasing the goal size. Sadly this leads to one of my old problems of people jumping out of their vehicles on top of the goal thus blocking the goal from inside the shielded area. It may not be as big as a problem as I think it is, as you will be playing with friends and thats kind of an ass move. Time will tell...

    Wow that is a really cool looking arena. It has a very smooth/neat layout. I do have a few questions before I go play it. Are are vehicles/people able to be killed? Because I could see the gauss warthog being used to easily kill the ghosts or even spawn camp people.

    Another question is how the soccer ball plays for you? In my Smashball game we originally tried to use the soccer ball but found out that everyone except the host sees the soccer ball move erratically. I have a rendered video of what I am talking about here. Does this happen for you? Note again you won't see the ball move like that if you are in a game by yourself and you are host.

    It's not the biggest deal if the soccer ball moves like that and may be worth it to just keep using the soccer ball because the golf ball plays so much differently and WILL be able to fly outside of your map which will be a complete pain to make a roof on a map that size

    Yes the vehicles are destructible as are the players, This is due to the size of the map and players losing their vehicles when they die, as they would just stay where they died. To counter this, damage has be reduced by 50%. But with feedback I may tweak this (maybe throw in Revenants instead). Origonally the game was to have 8 gauss hogs (4 on each side) but it was scrapped because players were limited in how they play and it felt restricted. So it was change to have the hogs as "power weapons" and still allow 4 other team members to work the field.

    Also players have 3 teleporters in the skyboxes, right, left and middle of their side. They also spawn with 10 second invincibility but do 0% damage during that time. players also spawn with unlimited ammo and a grav hammer and rocket launcher.

    As for the soccerball movement, I haven't played it from the Non-host side so I imagine it is there, since others (like yourself) have seen it. If it is, it will have to stay. It will be a small sacrifice due to as you said the ball handles completely differently.

    Its funny when every "sport" type game pops up I feel inclined to check it out

    I will second Graybes on the fact that the soccer ball will cause some problems it moves very erratically

    and when you do change to the golf ball something you might wanna be aware of is the ball possibly flying out of the arena, it might seem ridiculous but youd be surprised what happens during a match.

    If youd like to do some testing add me nillapuddin626 and id be more than happy to help you get some kinks out if any appear


    edit: also forgot to say very nice arena I like the look of the map

    Thanks for the positive feedback. I made some adjustments after thinking about what you and Graybes said. We are now blessed with a climate controlled arena. I'm a little worried how the golfball with change things but after some simple test, the play with vehicles isn't all the different. It's only with the rockets and hammer that is is very noticeable.

    And after thinking about the play with the gauss hogs, they are a bit OP even with the damage cut in half. So they got swapped out with the revenant.
