I present to you Tributary, a semi-symmetrical map heavily inspired by Battle/Beaver Creek from Halo CE/2 First things first: Even though I labeled this as a "Remake," It is really more of an homage, since the bases are drastically different, and are not intended to be anything like their predecessors Pictures An overview. Teleporters connect the back of each base. Currently, the rocket launcher is just where you left it on top of the arch, the sniper is across from it. A shotgun is in an alcove in the river below the sniper, and the GL is in the opposite alcove on archside (PROTIP: the GL's primary fire mode does not bounce if it enters the water) The front of Red Base. Red Base is laid out in what is basically an S shape on one story. The roof is accessed by jumping onto the corer that is closest to you in this picture The view from the Roof of Red Base is breathtaking The front of Blue Base. The bottom floor that I am entering in this shot basically only contains a couple of spawns and a ramp up to the second floor The View from Blue Base's nest Supported Gametypes FFA / 2 Team Slayer FFA/ 2 Team Oddball 2 Team Assault 2 Team CTF FFA / 2 Team Headhunter FFA / 2 Team KOTH Infection/Safe Havens Juggernaut Weapon Loadout 4x ARs 2x DMRs 2x Magnums 2x Needle Rifles 2x Needlers 2 Plasma Pistols 2x Plasma Repeaters 1x Concussion Rifle 1x Focus Rifle 1x Grenade Launcher 1x Rocket Launcher 1x Sniper Rifle 4x Frag Grenade 4x Plasma Grenade If you find any exploits, things just not working properly, or think of a better name for the map please let me know
I haven't had a chance to play through this with other people yet, but I downloaded last night and I think you've definately captured the feel of beaver creek. That said, it seems to be a tad small without the underground tunnels At least it's the only beaver creek remake I've seen with an actual creek that's not a metal ditch, so there's that
Dude nice work, I like the base designs, i understand how making it exact would require too much crap and would be really almost impossible due to the area you built the map, still really nice i'll dl.
The water running through is your only advantage here. The bases are almost nothing like the original, and they're even significantly different from each other. Also, the FX you used doesn't work too well. You sacrificed too much from the original so that you could have water. I prefer the ones that have no water, but have everything else. I wouldn't call this a Beaver Creek remake. Perhaps a spiritual successor.
I think he pretty much already said that. Anywho, I like the non-traditional remakes, I especially dig this one. The asymmetrical bases add new flare to the old map.
I'm assuming you only looked at this map in Forge's "Basic Editing" mode, so I believe you are talking about the "Old Timey" Filter that ONLY shows up during Infection games. Also, please note that I also blocked the teleporters for Infection ONLY. And as the poster above me pointed out, I am fully aware that my map is a spiritual successor, but unfortunately the form on this site doesn't have a check box for that, so I marked the "remake" box because I didn't want people claiming that I ripped off the old maps. Thanks for the honest feedback though
I'm sorry about the quick judgment, then. I didn't realize the map had differences for infection. But since you acknowledge that it's not really a remake, you should know that this map does not qualify for the Forgotten Treasures 2 contest. That's probably how I got confused. I first saw the map there, and assumed it was a true remake.
Hey no worries. I can see where your confusion came from I suppose I was confused when I put my map in the contest as well. I noticed another Beaver Creek non-replica in there and thought "why not" Oh well: no harm, no foul
