I think this is the best Turf remake available. With that said, you have a small .1unit crack by Sniper spawn and the braces are .1 unit lower on sniper side than the other side of the street. Edit: I forgot to mention 6 health packs is a lot. Most default maps have 3. You might want to consider decreasing the number you have on the map.
Thanks for the comments. The gap by the sniper was already fixed, but i did go ahead and reduce the Med Packs and fixed the height of the braces on the street. If you see anything else out of place let me know. Also if anyone has played on the new version, I'm curious to see if the spawning is back to normal.
The map is to small, i went into halo 2 and halo reach side by side and everything is just to small. Its not by much but its enough to affect gameplay. Also the scarab make not be part of gameplay but it just makes the map look and feel better, when i think of Turf i think of the city and the fallen scarab and without it in the map that half of the map just doesnt feel like turf.
I think I've seen you posting in every Turf Remake, and each time the comment had a hair of constructive criticism mixed with a bunch of unhelpful criticism. You have your own turf remake and your comments are uncalled for. You have a bias, which is understandable, but it is getting the better of you. Leave the other turf remakes alone and let people get their own opinions without being affected by yours. If you believe your remake is indeed superior then these petty comments aren't necessary. Now to the actual map, I noticed behind med hunt on one of the back ledges, you can't walk around the lip, a large brace obstructs the path just enough to push you onto the ground. I also agree with you that gameplay>aesthetics. But, if you try adding those crates instead of a block or two it might help improve the aesthetics without affecting gameplay. (Love the window at scarab, great touch.) Healthpack locations are where I'd expect them to be, nice.
Thanks for the comments, I'll certainly try and fix that ledge next time I update the map. As for Gamefreaks comment about the map being slightly to small...he's actually right. the map is slightly smaller. But theres a reason! You actually cant jump as high or as far as you could in Halo 2! so jumps that were possible in the Halo 2 version were impossible in Reach. Therefore to make the map play as it used to, the map shrunk. While you may notice if you jump on the map after popping out the Halo 2 version, it's not enough to notice when you're actually fragging your friends, I guarantee that.
I love this map so much, I loved the original and this is honestly the best remake I've seen yet. I have two qualms with it though. I think there was a movable crate in the back alley? I'm not 100%- I can't seem to find my H2 disk to check. The Medical tent doors used to be wide enough to plow through with the warthog. Loved that. It would be nice to see it happen again.
This is an awesome remake, You did a great job! The only problem I have with this map is the lack of purple. In your original map, You had a purple light somewhere near the place where the scarab was in Halo 2. It gave the area a more of a covenant feel (which is good since a scarab used to be there). Might I suggest that you add it back in in a future update. It's up to you but either way, keep up the good work!

[br][/br]Edited by merge: There probably was a movable crate in the back alley, I was having some issues with the crates and replaced some of them with blocks thinking they couldn't move in the original. I've got my H2 disc so I'll go back and see which ons move and swap them out. I'll also see if I cant make the medic doors a little bigger for you.
Okay first of all, what you're doing is called spamming. which is A:Not a great way to get people to play customs, and B: a great way to get banned from these forums. If you wanna find people to play customs with, I'd go looking through the Customs Lobby Threads which is ...well its exactly what your looking for.
I played a custom on your map the other day and the starting spawns were messed up, one team spawned in the Garage and the other team spawned on the opposite corner by the tent. Now this would be perfect if I was playing a symmetrical gametype like team slayer or oddball, but I was playing one Flag CTF. The Defending Team should spawn back Scarab and the Offensive Team should spawn on warthog. If this was a problem for one flag I would probably look into other gametypes as well like one bomb.
easily the best turf remake ive seen. i dled this a couple weeks ago and have played a few customs on it. this just captures the feel of the original so nicely. i love how you put it inside the cave to make it darker, and then put a roof on it. adds some nice aesthetics. you sir have made an excellent contribution to the halo reach online comunity (just a more professional way of me saying I LOVE THIS MAP!!!!1). Remakes like this deserve all the recognition that they get. Also check out my Prisoner remake plox (see sig)
I was in this game, and can confirm this problem. Despite it, we still had fun. Though it would be nice to spawn in the correct locations.
Okay, that was kinda a kick in the pants to go in and really fix things. It think I got everything working now. Fixed all the spawning issues, MAJORLY updated the geometry of the map (enough to bump it a whole number from 1.3 to 2.0), and added a bunch of new gametypes. Gonna ask everyone to test the map and new gametypes as throughly as possible, cause I changed so much, I'm sure there are some glitches out there. Thanks everyone for playing the map, and more importantly, giving me input on the map.
hey, totally never noticed you put an update out, played it last night. good update. street feels the same size as the old version so thats good i guess. Really awesome that you put the new game types in. infection on Turf? f**kin badass. me and my buds played probably a dozen games of it on there last night, really cool.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that point. While the Grenade Launcher could be called new version of the brute shot, its far more powerful, slower shooting and has a shorter magazine. The concussion rifle on the other hand is a tad weaker, bounces people around a bit more but has a similar mag size. In my opinion, the grenade launcher is somewhere between the brute shot and the rockets, a little too powerful for this map. The concussion rifle on the other hand does a decent job of recreating how the brute shot acted.
I'm going to have to agree with CaptTylor on about the Concussion Rifle except that it couldn't be called a new version of the brute shot. Also, sorry to notice turf lagoon didn't place in the top 19 of Forgotten Treasures. For what it's worth, I think it was definitely deserving.
I agree this is the best remake of turf I've seen. If you dont remember me I'm the guy that redid one corner of the map so you can see the waterfall. Glad you have addressed the spawning issues.
