Awhile back there was a challenge to complete Winter Contingency on Legendary alone; which, by the way, I never ended up completing because of the freaking Elite at the end with the Concussion Rifle. Anyways, right in the beginning of the mission, I was running down the terraces straight to where the first Moa's run out from (I skipped the first mission as it is unnecessary and a waste of time) and I noticed something invisible walking away. I had my Magnum out at the moment, and so I did what would we all would do if we saw something invisible, I shot at it. It stopped moving, so out of sheer instinct, I ran up to it and gave it a nice melee to the back. Now there was a dead Elite just laying in front of me. Not that this matters at all; but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this yet. The whole experience was extremely thought provoking. What is he doing here? Why is he just chilling in the beginning of the mission? Why won't he fight back? And who stops moving when you get shot in the back (disregarding real life)? Why would he scare the poor Moa? What is his purpose?

Like I said, I am 99.999% sure this is nothing important. Just something cool I found. Check it out for yourself.

Yeah, ive seen it too. Its an easter egg, and he should NOT have stopped for you lol. Normally youve got to chase him for a bit.

Anyway, he also drops a data-log that you can read like six or seven pages of for a little easter egg. Its pretty cool, and there are like 19 of these data-logs. Look 'em up for something bro, its worth your time ;)

Shhh Stop talking about the BOBs. Normally there are 2 to 3 BOBs per level each of them have a data pad on them. If your go onto your bungie.net profile and go into what enemies you have killed in campain they are there.

The invisible elite isn't actually a BOB. BOBS are gold ranger elites. I believe they have been found on every level except New Alexandria and Exodus. The levels they have been found on there has only been one found, but he can spawn in multiple locations. I have never heard of someone killing 2 BOBS in one level in one run. If it is a true BOB you will get a medal when you kill it.

I have read up on everything about these "BOBs" and I still dont understand why they are called BOBs and why they are in Reach.

Doesn't BOB have something to do with Marathon? "Born on Board" I think it means.

Each BOB does not have a data pad on them. And about that Elite being a BOB, that is wrong. You may have killed another BOB on the same level and it registered. The invisible Elite is not a BOB.

Yes, BOB has to do with Marathon. Bungie loves to involve their other games with Halo.

This is all you need to know.

That elite you killed was most definitely NOT a bob, they have the giant effing ranger helmet and they are completely gold.

I just killed the one that you are talking about yesterday. Just start up the mission, get out your magnum and sprint to the moa area. You will see the Elite running away clearly (if you have a good eye/HD TV). If it gets to the area right before Carter says "Noble 6, check out this house" and you go inside, it will disappear. Just unload magnum clips into it and sprint up so you don't lose it.
It drops a data pad starting off with some random english LIkE tHIs talking about it finding a way into the building to find a report on the human's knowledge on Covenant glassing threats.
