This map is inspired by the movie "the Cube". In fact of that i want to create a map who plays with your sinn. Its a labyrinth with endless tunnels and weird rooms with some specials. There are no normal physics or geometrie. Because you never see the horizon, you get a strange feeling of everything is wrong. You get the best performance with gametype "Cubeslayer". Powerweapons: Shotgun: 90s (no spare clips) Snipe: 90s Grenade-launcher: 90s Rockets: 10s (are there realy rockets? maybe^^) Overshield: 120s ! WARNING !Maybe you get sick after playing some minutes in the cube. You never see the horizon for geometrical orientation! horizontally or vertically or...? upside down? oh my god where is the solder! endless tunnels... I hope you will enjoy this crazy map and recommend it to your friends.
YESYESYESYES! I loved Budhacrane's 45 degree map in Foundry, and I was going to make something similar. I'm guessing that the geometry is at random-ish angles, and not all at 45 degrees. You get a DL from me, but could you explain how cube slayer is different from ordinary slayer?
cubeslayer is different because there is only 50% gravity, 110% jump high and the only AA is jetpack. It equals a feeling of floating through an abandoned station in space. but the main reason is to make the movement in the cube more easier. but its also playable without cubeslayer.
Damn it...I was making something like this, but I think yours looks way better. Also, why don't you show more of the map. We already know it's tilted at a 45* angle, so there really isn't much left to hide from us. The entire point of a map post is to show as any details about your map beforehand as possible.
He must be a mindreader as I also had a similar idea :s :s Darn! I lost orientation in what... 5 seconds. A good map though a little too tunnely/gameplay narrow in areas. Still, a great 4.5 from me.
This is the fifth disorientated map I've seen. Sure, yours may be very nice, especially with the outside aesthetics (the first pic would make a sweet loadout cam) but the concept is getting very stale. Come up with some new ideas people!
A strange map for a strange movie! It is incredibly fun. Nothing else matters once you play in this map. I played with a few people, and we all ended up smiling the entire match. I love this map. 9/10.
Aesthetically spectacular (outside looks really cool) and very original. The gametype makes this one really fun (of course, the map is almost useless without the custom game variant, so everyone should be sure to download it)! This is perhaps one of the most unique Reach maps/games I've seen, and yet it's still exciting and fun in respect to gameplay. Everything is well done. Just curious--how much time did this take you? This is the type of map I would like to feature on my Forge Blog. Great work. 9/10.
Very Impressive! Wow! This map is absolutely incredible looking. The theme and style is distinctly clever and makes the map a marvel just to walk around in. Although I just explored it solo, I expect that a team slayer match would be a blast. The placement of the sniper and grenade launcher are both very clever and in keeping with their respective rooms themes (although I suspect some players will complain about them being too hard to find). Their positions should also help to congregate players in those areas, keeping a balance between hallway and open area fighting. Speaking of the theme rooms, both the anti-gravity room and zero gravity room are jaw-droppingly cool. I do have one suggestion and one idea, but you have already made such a great map, feel free to ignore them First, I would suggest a little more weapon variety, as in maybe replace a few of the spare Assault rifle and DMR spawns with Plasma repeaters/rifles. It probably wont effect gameplay much but I usually like having more options. Second, my idea: A friend of mine showed me a technique for making players “stick” to the ceiling using hidden one way shields and I was thinking that this would be awesome to implement in the upside-down room. If you imbed the shield in the roof just one click above being visible, with the orange side up, players who jump close enough will “stick” and be able to float around with their heads scraping the ceiling until they move past the edge of the shield. You might be able to use this effect to make the various upside-down cover actually usable, if you wanted to. Anyway, great map! Keep up the good work.
Awesome! I was waiting for someone to make a map like this! Good thing I didn't try to make one, this one looks way better! I think you should add more pics though. I can't really get an idea of the map like this :/
First off, I loved that movie, the room with all the razor wire things...creepy. Second, your map is really cool, and very well made, I especially love the rocket launcher outside that window just teasing you. Awesome job, and great gametype as well.
I'm not sure why everyone thinks this is such a great map. I downloaded it a few days ago but never posted a comment because I just forgot about, that's the impression it left! I was walking around and I would find myself in those big rooms and then I would just get stuck. I could see a few ways out but only one of them was actually reachable; the way I came in. Its not as disorientating as I was expecting. Some of the slopes are just so steep you can just jump down them which just ruins the illusion. As for a map you can play games on, as I mentioned before, the flow just isn't very good.
I think this map was a good attempt at the disorient style map. As i said earlier, Check out Vertichron 34 and also Geometric V2
