I was wondering how long it was going to take this to get featured Congrats on the feature Gunnergrunt, this fantastic map deserves it!
It's very unfortunate that this map suffers from a significant amount of screenlag. Especially when an Assault Rifle is going off (but even just taking the mancannon was enough to slow it down significantly). Performance is a big thing when it comes down to potential matchmaking integration. Other than that my only real comment is that the central level could use a bit more cover to the "sides". The poles in the middle aren't really enough imo. It's a beautiful map, but just too bad it lags (I gotta wonder though how nobody else has commented on this?).
In all honesty, those pictures do not do this map justice. I loved play-testing vanilla with the small games we got going (even if i did get absolutely wrecked at juggernaut) and I knew at the time the map would be featured. I never actually saw the original post for it as I didn't expect it to be released so soon. All in all, it gets my download. Congratulations Gunner
This was the first reach map I downloaded just because it looked like a good slayer map. Otherwise, I was just DLing for customs. GunnerGrunt should really submit this for the Forgetacular contest!
Gunnergrunt you are my hero! Just kidding but seriously Bungie needs to see this and you need to submit it to Forgetacular and win yourself an Xbox, Oh ya so i don't get a spam infraction from TransactionZero, Ill end with this Gameplay is great, I personally love the trees, it adds so much more than all of the plain maps that people are turning out. This should be on matchmaking.
Can't say I didn't see it coming. Congrats, GG. You deserve everything your maps will bring you. Whether that be fame, fortune, or a million fanboys.
congrats your map get featured, i did downloaded it, so we could play on local split screen with my friends tonight. I knew they would be enjoy it. Like others said this should be in Matchmaking... agreed! Keep it up!
My friend hosted this map in our weekly custom games server and at the time I did not know what it was called. It was alot of fun and lag wasn't in the forefront of my mind when playing it. Solidly built and a well placed centerpiece tree. An obvious choice for a feature. Grunt - are you submitting this into Forgetacular? If so which category?
I had high hopes this map would get featured. I have been playing it with my friends nonstop. My friends were wondering why it was called Vanilla. Love that name. Its so far my favorite forge map. Good luck on the Forgetacular, Grunt. I look forward to playing this game on matchmaking. I'll memorize and learn the map so I pwn everyone once you win the contest.
That is the version I have. It still has the frame-rate issues I spoke of... But I guess since many people don't notice it can't be that bad =) Also just a suggestion, but in the area with the 2 gravity lifts and the mancannon, I feel there should be a slight seperation between them (like space them out a bit + a wall between each lift). Not only would it feel more "natural" to navigate + make it more clear that they lead to distinct areas, but it avoids "accidentally" walking in the wrong one whilst walking backwards during combat. I still feel the center level lacks cover atm. Oh and the top bridge has a very limited line of sight to the lower decks, but that might be intentional.
Congrats on the feature! I didn't know you'd be featured on ForgeHub when I chose you to be featured on my blog, but you definitely deserve it. Nice work!
I love how a good portion of this write up is about the tree. Anyway, when I first saw this I downloaded and flew around it, it'll be on my harddrive "until the end of time".
