YouTube - Reach Forge Tutorials Ep1: Drop Pods Feel free to post if you have questions. Apologies if it was iffy to understand, this is the first time I've ever recorded myself trying to teach something 1:19 to skip the intro btw
great idea, you could also use fusioncoils or a landmine with a shield door and than you could have a respawing one that would work great. better than this one, the weapon with fixed has poor gameplay qualities, the least gameplay affecting options would be fusion coils/ landmines with shield doors blocking.
My mic is a BK youtuber, it doesn't have that option. or maybe it's just oober sensitive. I heard my sister yelling in the background at one point
Potentialy, you can make it impossible for some groups to operate it by setting Weapon Pickup to "Off".
You could also make it so they drop as soon as they get in the pod by making the weapon that holds it the same as their starting weapon.
I used your tutorial to make one in forge just a few minutes ago. I found that using a landmind (fixed upside down) to hold up the barricades, with a shield door right at the red button to prevent any explosive damage to people, worked the best. With this configuration, the drop pod drops as soon as the player walks into the drop pod and is also reusable.
Pfft, it also splits apart halfway through, and you can walk straight out of it. Poor craftsmanship, I must say. Kidding! I jumped it to Greif's map and tested out the setup he had, and it worked very well, especially considering how wonky forge can be at times. The setup respawns very nicely as well--a good job overall.
Yup, this is what I did for my UNSC Trebuchet map. Do you mind inviting me to your game? I'm trying this right now and every time so far it seems to break apart a lot during freefall and so you kind of die..
i wouldn't really call it a drop pod unless you can survive the fall. if you could find a way to do that, it would be awesome.
While falling, does your character have his feet planted firmly on the floor of the drop pod? If so, what about placing the armor lock in it instead of the DMR? Just imagine how cool it would look watching this thing fall from the sky, hit the ground and split, and inside is a SPARTAN with armor lock deployed. That would look soooo bad ass. If someone creates this and makes it work, I would like credit. Thanks.
You do survive the drop though, that's the whole purpose of them No, this doesn't work sadly. You kind of bouce around so you're always generally in midair and armor lock doesn't work in free fall. Plus the EMP breaks the pod apart.
Nice job and really good tutorial! I'm gonna watch if I can make enough budget so I can put it in mine Invasion map Didact. It's just so badass to see Spartans land from the sky =)!
