I'm not bothered about the "US-only web-based competitions" as a whole, I'm bothered why Bungie did it. As I said, there are workarounds and Bungie could have used them, but they haven't. (That's if it is a legal problem)
Lmao nick, I think you may have missed the whole, US-only argument -.- In which case I will save you the facepalm and tell you that you need to be a legal resident of the US. I had some great ideas as well. I guess I will just have to design them and not have a chance of winning :S
Ok I got an idea for all non-us residents! Get a thread going to petition forgehub to doe a non-us contest! They could convince bungie to supply a console and forgehub could mail it. US residents not allowed to compete! I like it!
Dammit! I had one for assault! Anyways, I am glad this contest is happening I'm really hoping for some better maps in MM.
I will be sending in Embassy under team slayer, Siege Breakers to invasion and who knows what for what knows who!
You know what this reminds me of? The Tri-Wizard Tournament in HP4. Everyone wants to compete, but some don't think they are good enough (Mr Lamar), B3NW is too young to enter, so he gets mad, everyone else is going to enter though and hope for the best. Some uncanny parallels, wouldn't you say?
I live in Canada. </3 and I was so excited for this... good luck to the Americans participating I suppose.
I need some testers. a good 6-7 testers, but I would love more the merrier. I'm a bachelors student in Game Design going to Full Sail University (Number 3 school in the United States for Bachelors program in Game Design). My gamertag is the same as my Member tag : Carpetfresh It's a 1 Flag CTF Map. Red vs Blue. it's created in forge world. It is a medium sized map with 4 floors. It goes from Melee combat (Bottom Floor) to long range combat (top floor). Each round is 4:00 minutes long with 00:30 seconds of Sudden Death. There are 4 rounds (2 attacking and 2 defending) just like in Bungies 1 flag CTF. I made the sudden death to 30 seconds because it fells better than 15 seconds. F.Y.I. I love constructive criticism, bad or good.
Didn't you hear? MLG maps only have DMRs on them and must conform to being Onslaught clones. Any attempt to build something other than that is automatically discarded and called crap by MLG kids. Or not. I'm willing to put money down that at least one map posted on MLGpro.com will get a default gametype makeover and win a place in matchmaking through this contest.
Man this reminds me of the Spore/Maxis rage where they released special parts that were only avaliable to US players. I stopped playing after that. If Bungie is so powerful why couldn't they transport a few Xboxes around the world? Jagex - the creators of Runescape and a UK based company smaller than Bungie, run a yearly competition in which the winner (no matter where in the world) gets a fully paid trip to the studio and runners up get a lifetime of free membership (about £5 a month). I wish Bungie would make more effort for their competitions.
Dear God, people, get the hell over yourselves. It's a freaking competition. If you don't like the rules, then quit bitching and find something else to whine about, because they aren't gonna change. I feel bad for you, and I'd be irritated too if I were in your position, but don't start screaming **** about Bungie not taking you into account. Take a look at their responsiveness track record--pretty good, especially in relation to other companies. If they could have done the competition world-wide, I'm sure they would have. Bungie's a successful company, and it's pretty obvious that it's a legal thing. Half of that post was contest legal-talk, so I doubt Bugie is just plotting ways to piss you off in their lair of evil. Get a damned grip. And let's not forget one other important detail--there's going to be seven winners, period. That's going to consist of seven individuals out of the thousands of Americans who enter--the odds, even once the crap-maps have been weeded out, will be slim of any one person's map winning. Now let's take into account everyone OUTSIDE of the US who wants to enter, and add them into the mix. Congrats, you've got an even smaller chance of making it in. So statistically, you're not missing much. B3NW specifically, suck it up and move on. Take a hint from the other non-US forgers who've posted here stating their disappointment but also their acceptance of the circumstances, and stop acting like such a twelve-year-old. Contrary to what you may think, Bungie doesn't answer to specifically you, and your armchair-lawyering isn't going to make them "try harder" to do something they would most likely have done in the first place, if they could have. Holy crap, just be mature about it.
I'm not complaining about the rules at all, I've been complaining about the eligibility. I'm not fussed about the odds, as I see it, 1/1000 is just as hard as being noticed in 1/10,000. All I've posted is my disappointment as well as others have, if you call that whining then yes, I am showing my discontent but it is not in vain because to be honest, I'm not the only one and Bungie will notice. I know Bungie does not answer specifically to me, they answer to the generic wants of the majority of their community, which atm, is complaining about the competition. As I've pointed out, Bungie could get a workaround the "legal" problems, as practically every competition does, coin it as you wish. & I'm sorry, but showing my disappointment is not immature, if I was immature I would send abusive emails to Bungie and post abuse messages in the forums, you cannot comment on my maturity brah, learn what it means.
