YouTube - New mini game concept Now after seeing the video, let me explain this gametype a little more in depth. KoTH Ball (not the final name) is brand new concept in the world of mini games. It is exactly what it sounds like, the hill is the ball and the ball is the hill. Your objective is to capture hill points and to keep the hill away from the opposite team, you're equipt with grenade launchers, frag grenades, your bare knuckles, and infinite sprint. Now for a few twists and turns, I've solved an age old problem that all objective gametypes had... Being an objective player vs. Being a slayer; Now while both roles are very important, "being a slayer" for many players meant ignoring the objective all together and gathering together kills. This becomes a problem when you are trying to be an objective player while your teamates objective is to kill, kill, and kill some more. In KoTH Ball, you are invulnerable off of the hill but deal no damage and hill traits allow you to kill but also leaves you vulnerable to the opposing team if they are on the hill as well. In short, you can only kill and/or die while on the hill, so to be a "slayer" in this game means to also be an objective player; they are one in the same. So everyone is shooting for the same goal, to win. I'm always open to suggestions and comments but any comments on the current map will be ignored. Because this was strictly to test the game, not the map. I'm aware spawns are bad and that the room is empty and boring and blah blah blah.... But like I said, feel free to comment on anything else.
That game concept looks incredibly fun. With an appropriately matched map (maybe with some big tubes or tunnels for the ball to bounce around in?) it would be a great time. Edit - can the ball pass through one way shields? If not some of those placed strategically around, especially up in the air, might make things really entertaining.
Did you end up expanding the KotH zone? Because I felt it was too small for actual combat within ii, and it became a difficulty getting into it at times. I'm definitely excited for what you could do with this Urban because if you make a cool map along with it, the gametype can really shine.
This just looks awesome. It's one of the more unique ideas that I've seen. The hill looks like it should probably be larger though. Also, have you thought of using multiple ball-hills and setting it to crazy king?
Whatever map is created for this I strongly suggest banked walls, as it will stop it from simply rolling around the walls, because as you can see in the video it's always moving along the walls.
I actually doubled the size of the hill since you played There are currently 2 balls because of the orignal one despawning. So what happens is after 3 minutes, the second ball spawns and later becomes the only golfball (hill) on the map after the original ball despawns. Definetely something I plan to do.
Definitely some potential for some really cool maps using this. I like the ramped idea, and careful use of one way shields and mancannons would be a blast.
Isn't this just essentially oddball? I mean, whichever team holds the oddball the longest wins, right?
This would be fun on a distortion-esque map: built a large oval in mid-air, so the golf ball and players can travel almost all the way around. Make sense?
In a way you're right. But if you watched the video, you could see that you can knock the ball away from them and since the hill moves there is no camping issue really, if that's what you were worried about.
No, it isnt oddball. in oddball you camp in a corner and hope the people defending you have power weapons. In this, you have move around a lot more, and more than one person can fight in the hill. This seems like a really cool concept with the Grenade launchers, as they can be detonated at any time. Sorry if this was de-constructive, i just hate oddball very much. Added after 1: BTW sory about oddball post . I meant to quote someone on page 1.
This is good. Real good haha I'm going to yoink this to show my buddies. I'll tell them where I saw it, though.
I would probably use a cube hill ratherthan a cylinder, but that's just personal preference. With the expanded hill space, ithink this could have a lot of potential, especially when paired with maps built with this specifically in mind. No part of the map would be somewhere that wouldn't see much action, considering the ball could essentially be anywhere, at any time.
I reckon that the final version should definately have a cube-shaped hill and the game should be shorter; I don't think that I've ever seen a (fun) minigame last 10 minutes - no offence to anybody who's made a minigame 10 minutes long :/ EDIT: Is there a way to turn friendly fire off? Because you should do that too, *looks at you puching team mate and getting a betrayal*
Did you even watch the video? It looks like sooooooo much fun!!!!!!! Anyway, I would totally DL this if you put up the link. I know that it's not the best map, but the gametype makes up for it.
Epic win. This looks like a lots of fun, all the sex that is king of the hill but you move that **** yourself. I love it, and it's such a simple idea, give yourself a hug.
This looks very fun and I liekd how you made players invunerable outside of the hill. May I suggest that you turn friendly-fire off so that if you shoot your pro pipe in the hill you don't hurt teammates. But it encourages nade spamming. might as well leave it on then
