I'm new to the mapmaking community, so I don't know if this is actually frowned upon or not, but apparently some dude took my Lockout remake map, added some pillars and FX, and then released it as if it were entirely his own map with no credit to me. Am I in the right mindset being upset about this?

He has a bunch of other remakes too. I haven't downloaded them yet, but they might just be copies of other people's maps from here too...

This is his post on the Bungie forums Bungie.net : Halo: Reach Forum : Reach Remake Maps from Past Halo Games. download them & trythem...

Just post something there saying it's yours and demand credit AND post a link to your map. Then the OP will be drowned with angry posts.

UPDATE: I've posted in the thread and have looked at those maps, the only credit he gives is to himself 'edited by Nexus of ice' not the original creator, it's a good thing that the thread is dying.

Yeah, just call him out in the post there, with your map linked as proof.

This is one of the reasons I forge alone... I would hate to spend upto a week getting a map astheticly perfect before testing it for someone to take my work, alter it a little and then post as their own.

It's an unbelievabley low thing to do!

    This ^^

That should be all the proof required.

If this guy has really stolen your map and just added some stuff then it will still show you as the original author.

Oh, and yeah, on Forge Hub we don't tolerate map theft.

EDIT: OMG, it looks like Shadow's Titan map is on there too!

Could we get everybody who's maps have been stolen to place angry messages on their post? I don't mean flaming or anything, just saying that they have been ripped off or something.
If anyone knows the people who made the maps ( I don't look at remakes of maps before halo 3 because I haven't played them), I think they should be informed of that thread.

ANOTHER UPDATE: He's now created a NEW thread exactly the same, still not crediting the creators : http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=50100873&postRepeater1-p=1#50252743
I find it really cheeky that he is taking requests for maps to remake as some/all of 'his remakes' are other people's

2ND UPDATE: They've now changed what they said: 'Where do you think is a good place to make waterworks?' to 'waterworks is too complex to make'. And coincidentaly, I haven't seen a waterworks remake around...

YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Seems he's a member of forge hub too? :/
