    The Ark v2

This facility was built by the Forerunners to study plant life and other organic specimens found though out the galaxy. It is designed around a circler style arena and has three levels. It's a small, close quarters map so things heat up quickly.

It is symmetrical, with two main base rooms for team games.
It has a shot gun and sniper on each side of the map. There is also an over shield that spawns every 90 seconds, but be careful getting it you have to jump on explosives to get it and don't fall because you wont stop falling for quite some time.

This is a great map for FFA or small teams. It can have 8 different teams for most gametypes.

Thanks for looking at my post, now go check out the map for your self.

Very nice, I like how you made a design that includes a unique landmark. But can't people fall down the hole and land on one of the ramps on the side though? If so, you should make a hard kill barrier, so that people can't cheat in gametypes like oddball. Great job!

A change of pants is definitely needed. The aesthetics are simply AMAZING and the map has a great layout. Can't wait to test this out (and to see it featured ;) )

The centerpiece (hole) really caught my eye and is probably my favorite aesthetic touch in Reach that I have seen so far.

Wow! that is a big hole. But I do like the top. It looks like an old court yard in the center of a deserted building. This is one of those maps where you have do download and look around and discover. I really like it though. Just makes me feel like I'm in a deserted island and I was walking around and discovered this great big hole in a deserted court yard.

    Thanks guys!

I have a softkill volume that covers the hole. Although you could jump in it with the ball, I really don't think it would be the best idea you would be better off getting it to a base.

to put it simply, this is extravagant. it is not only well forged but the aesthetics to me is simply jaw-dropping. i'm curious on how the bottomless pit plays into the game but i guess i am going to have to see for myself. going to have to give this one a 9.5/10. (^_^)=b

I used the tin cup, the one used for golf. I thought it would look cool around the pit, make people look twice at it.

Ahhhh god damn. Yesterday I built a bigass circular deathpit almost exactly like your's (tin cup rock garden and all). Your's looks a lot cooler than mine did though. I'll be sure to check this out, it looks really ****ing sick.

So, I downloaded this map, and I love almost everything about it. Almost There are a lot of objects within this map that are merged too perfectly, if you know what I mean. If you do not know what I mean, I'll explain, the objects appear to clip in and out of each other, because they are in exactly the same place, this could be fixed easily by slightly moving the objects.

    Just a thought.

That. Especially the pants part. This is incredible, one forge through and I realized that this is a sure feature. Incredible.

I am an environment artist for video games and I hate z-fighting. When making stuff in games like Halo though you ether have to have it or you get little bumps that make it difficult to move and aim.
If there were objects that fit better I would have none of that stupid flickering.

Thanks for the comment, I share your pain. I have seen some maps a lot worse so I am glad I could minimize it in the spots I did.

    I noticed the z-fighting wasn't very prevalent, hell, I didn't notice it a bit.

I have to ask however, where did the inspiration for the design come from? Looks like it draws a lot from Derelict/Desolation.

It does, It's based on lots of similar style maps. My idea was to take parts from lots of different maps that I liked.

I have to say, that is what tempted me to download this map and it plays extremely well.

You say you're an environment artist and that definitely shows face here.

    Great job.

Holy crap, there's a lot of good stuff coming out already.

    This looks amazing, Sqorck. Downloading.

If somebody can figure out a good way to pull off invasion on small maps like this (in addition to setting up the standard gametypes like you did), I will be truly impressed.

I have to say, that once I got to check this map out in game, I wasn't nearly as impressed as I was by the pictures. The z-fighting is pretty bad in some parts. And the large platforms or whatever they are on the bottom level that are raised up just a bit.. i cant for the life of me figure out why you chose to do that, but it'd be nice if it was smoother.

Overall, I LOVE the idea of this map, but I feel that the execution isn't quite there. I think you underachieved a bit with this, which saddens me a bit because this could be a super awesome map.

I think you're worrying too much about avoiding bumps while walking, but to be honest, its not nearly as bad in Reach as it was in H3, so if it helps with the z-fighting, you should look into making some tiny, minute adjustments to some objects to counter it. It'd be worth it.
