I've missed 3 weeks of school with a case of head cold. Meaning that I cough. Basically snot is going down my throat and causing me to cough. So my dad takes me to the doctor. At first he doesn't pre-scribe me with anything. Then my dad asks and of course he gives me something. A inhaler. Sorry for bad spelling. Anywho, He warns me that I could get Yeast Infection from it. WTF? Okay, Im suffering from being sick and now theres a small chance of Yeast Infection. At first I didn't know what that was. Now that I know, I throwing this product out the window. I haven't used it yet. Thank god, I would be scared shitless. Why the F**k would they make a product that can give you yeast infection. This is the mouth Im talking about. No the Umm... Thingy. Does anyone think that doctors are retarded sometimes? Its like saying theres a product to cure aids but theres a 75% chance of you getting cancer. He said theres a 25% chance of it but no one that has ever used it didn't get it.

Please do not take this as a joke.

This is chemical powdered inhaler that is suppost to help my head cold.

I've been using an inhaler for the last 13 years, I've never had a yeast infection. Listen to your doctor he knows a lot more than you do.

I've been using an inhaler for like 5 years.

No yeast infection. :) I wouldn't worry too much about it...

Same here. I've been using an inhaler for my entire life. I've used new ones and old ones, some I've had for over two years. I would listen to your doctor, why do you think he's bringing home that massive paycheck everyday payday?

I would try taking two benedryl when you wake up and one before sleep. It'll dry up your nose and will hopefully make it easier to flush out the germs. Drink lots of water too.

The yeast infection that your doctor is talking about isn't the same as the yeast infection the internet is talking about. Unless you're using it really wrong.

i used to use a inhaler when i was very young, thats because i used to get a rare infection called croop.

Croop has had its toll on me when i was young, put in hospital for 6 weeks because i that crap. i was even knocked out because it caused me to stop breathing.

    Listen to your doctor.

If the doctor is giving you this, he probably thinks that getting a yeast infection is better than continuing on with this head cold. You're probably right though, it's not like he has eight years of secondary/post-secondary education or anything like that.

Face palm.... There is a small chance that you will get a yeast infection. All drugs have side effects and there is always a small chance of you reacting to the said drug. Wimp!

I went to the doctor once because I was sick and she told me I had the flu and gave me a prescription for antibiotics. Turned out I had mono. You should never have to get an apology from your doctor.

God forbid that doctors are human beings. How dare they make mistakes.

Also, the flu is a virus. Anyone who has taken high school biology would know that antibiotics don't work against viral infections. Taking antibiotics without needing them would only give you diarrhea and nausea, so don't freak out about it too much.
    Incidentally, mono is also viral.

So that's why visits to the doctor cost so much. So they can make mistakes.

You're totally right, they should be using that money to transcend their human nature and become infallible machines. Seriously, why aren't you running healthcare the whole world over?

Oh my bad. I should be sorry for caring about MY OWN HEALTH. I can't complain because their human. You know what, I'm human too. And I can get sick, I go to the doctor to get help. Why should I be angry when they don't help me but make me pay anyway? I don't know. You figure it out if you're so smart.

Caring about your own health is why you go to the doctor, being a pompous and thoughtless moron is why you somehow expect them to be beyond making mistakes, very separate issues. If you take issue with the process of paying and etc. for healthcare, and not getting refunds or similar if they make a mistake then fine, but your complaint was that they make mistakes in the first place. This is, quite frankly, moronic. Being stupid can be very frustrating, I get it, but try to work past it instead of simply venting at others, mkay?

On the subject of paying for healthcare and all the intricacies therein, I'm lucky to have the NHS since I like in the UK, but again the issues of expensive healthcare as a tradition is separate from expecting doctors to somehow never make mistakes.

OP: I think a general principle can be applied to such arguments as this: if you feel that you're so much smarter than your doctor, you're completely at liberty to ignore their advice and do as you will, and the consequences will be on your own head. As should be obvious: yes they can be wrong, but they're much more likely to be right than someone with little to know medical knowledge and only the vastly contradictory and overexcited spectrum of information that's tossed around the internet.

If your doctor makes a mistake that goes beyond this to the point of negligence, again feel free to seek legal advice on the matter. Though something tells me that this might be a tad overblown for a situation such as yours.
