So I decided to remake one of my favorite Halo 3 maps, Construct. This is a preview of my attempts so far.

Here's the bottom part of the lift, unfortunately I couldn't make it yellow.

Stairs leading upward, slightly wider than normal

Overview of main floor, you can see a bit of ugliness poking out in the lift.

This is merely a first version to see just how everything fit together and to see if the forge budget would allow for Construct, If I have time I'll make up an actual version that looks better.

One question: Why use teleporters instead of actual lifts?

Omg, that looks like an almost perfect remake. I think that the teleporters are there because it is too hard to make a man cannon launch you completely vertically that distance and not kill you, just a guess.

Well seeing as you land at the top, You don't take too much fall damage. Its not the height that hurts you. However, it could be hard to make it accessible from mid and bottom levels. That's my theory.

I started on a remake but never finished it because I wasn't sure I'd have enough pieces.

    Can we see the top?

agreed i think itd be better with mancannons instead of teleporter just personal preference...anyways i love the forge aesthetics for the sword room i think a lot of it is very nicely forged and cant wait to test it out

You could do a sequence of mancannons and gravity lifts and it should go fine- you have up to 8 on one map. Put a ramp at the top that forces players out into the hallway.

Only way i can see lifts being used is vehicle lifts with one way shields to keep from killing yourself on the way up. Enough juice to get you up there, nice size to keep people from dropping down, and with the shields to bounce you out and keep the roof from meeting your brains on a more personal level.

If he hits a nice ramp instead of the roof, there shouldn't be any damage. As for vehicle lifts- I haven't found them to be powerful enough for ANYTHING (certainly not vehicles). I hesitated to recommend one way shields because it would stop grenades from being thrown up the chute.

I used teleporters because currently all eight mancannons are used to work the large lift properly. If I can figure out a way to do the primary lift with only 4, I'll switch the side lifts to mancannons.

As for the top, it is finished but it doesn't look as nice as the bottom as I was definitely pushing the boundaries of both budget and allocation amounts. Hopefully, I can rework things from the ground up to accommodate better styling. I will take some pictures later though as it isn't bad looking, just not great.

To make the main lift yellowish like the original, add a yellow and/or orange light! Those are so handy!

Maybe you can use the one way lift technique described in other topics. So for the main lift you put some one way shields half way that get you all the way to the top. Maybe you can use that technique for the other lifts as well :)

I dig the teleporters, and sincerely doubt they will hinder gameplay at all. Look forward to it. I've been looking for a good Construct remake.

IMO, the teleporters will fix one of it's biggest problems... the people who stare down the lifts. Also, I would decrease the vertical scale. It is a bit gratuitous in the original version and dropping it by 2 units will save budget and lift requirements. Also, it will play more like the original since vertical movement is nerfed in reach.

Wow this looks amazing. Much, much, much like the remake. Although I really wish you could have put in the purple lifts, I know it must have been hard to try or even do so, but something similar would be good.
