Hey guys, so I've returned to forging now and for my first project I made a frigate. It's massive and takes up almost eight tenths of the total budget. Included on the frigate are point defense turrets that look awesome(thanks to given to fly and urban myth for helping out with those) as well as a functioning MAC cannon and six HEV Drop pods that are the currently the only way you're getting to the ground alive on foot. Yes that's right- you need to be inside them otherwise you don't survive the fall.

Anywho, since I still have some objects and budget left I'm wondering what I should do with it because I would like to make it playable (e.g. Invasion, infection, Assault, ect). Feel free to throw out any ideas you've got.

and are actually drop pods now!

How much damage do you take and from what height?

    This looks epic.
I think since asset is gone, the best use would probably be for invasion, but that would require significant budget for structures.
Remember you have to post it in the custom content forum for it to be featured.

You would normally die from that height but you survive with the drop pod. They usually knick your shields a bit though.

I have a decent amount of objects like buildings and decoratives but I'm flat out of building blocks for objects.

Firstly, how did you make working drop pods? Secondly, one bomb, definately one bomb, you don't really have enough budget for a whole invasion map :p

Is there a landing bay? Because if there is, like mentioned above, One bomb would work a treat. All you'd need to do is create a small landing pad in at the opposite end, fill it with banshees and the Elites have to fly to the frigate, and arm the bomb. Alternatively, Invasion would work just as well with two phases by taking the airport and then flying to the ship to take it over.

As for the map itself, it looks mint, another great looking frigate. Almost the same as UNSC Savannah. Good job

Secret. I'm making a video tutorial after I release the map though.

I think I have plenty of money for some decent structures too.
Yes there is a landing bay, but there are multiple way of getting to it I might just have the bomb spawn on the ship altogether for Invasion.

This is the idea I had in mind-
have the elites capture the first territory sort of in the middle of blood gulch; easy area to capture. The spartans will start spawning on the ground.

On the second tier, the capture points move underneath the ship to start some heavy ground engagements and spartans can start spawning on the ship but heavy weapons don't spawn as frequently and heavy vehicles do not spawn yet. Revenant and ghosts will be available for covies.

For the third tier maybe have the elites have to blow the ship with a bomb.. I've got ways of getting the covenant into the ship. A falcon and some banshees come into play and most of the combat will probably take place inside the

I was thinking of spartans dropping into battle to capture some territories, then unlock a core that has to be returned to the ship via mancannon, epic warthog jump, or riding on a falcon. Now that I think of it, those are the endings of odst and halo 3 :). With the hills of the gulch providing most of the cover, you should be able to make it work for invasion easily if you're willing to work with the prefab structures. As long as neither team has a significant height advantage without being fully exposed, the hills provide excellent cover.

have you tried adding custom powerups to the drop pods? you can make the player invincible and he will not take fall damage :)

holy...you built that and still had budget left?! Wow. My suggestion would be to put shade turrets on the side, so that would would have side guns similar to that the frigate uses in that campaign mission just beofre you get the the part that is "Spire" on multiplayer (after you blow up the AA gun thing)

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll look into those :)

I could do that, but I'm worried I might need custom powerups later on.

I have something even better than that ;)

Hm. May I ask real nice how you made those drop pods? From the screenshots I've understood the principle, and falling inside two barricades like that works good. Just how did you keep the pods in the ship and how do they launch when you enter/similar? :3
I'm also very curious on your Mac-guns, do they work? If so... how do they work? :3

As for now, I won't say how the drop pods work, I'll be making a video tutorial after I finish the map and release it though.

They launch whenever you want them to though, I can say that much.

The MAC gun works, yes. It's nothing really special honestly, it's more of a gimmick. It fires a destroyed mongoose that might get you a kill if you're extremely lucky.

Maybe you could try making it where Elites spawn at the back of the ship, and they have to fight their up to a Bridge or engine room, or something of that sort. You could model the inside similarly to the Corvette in the campaign

Im liking it, but man if you could change color I would be exstatic. I also think it would be cool if their was somewhere on the ship an armory with all human weapons and covenant weapons randomly put through-out the base.

I think Rifte's idea is really good. That'll probably work the best, and in the the last phase of Invasion the Elites could fight to the bridge (or engine room) and plant the bomb.

The only thing is flanking points. If you don't put in enough of these for the last phase, every corridor will continuously explode over and over from the number of grenades thrown, and the spartans would find it very easy to just camp and wait it out.

    It's a human ship though :p

I don't think I'll have an armory, maybe a couple power weapons but nothing more probably.

Very aware of that and watching out for it, thanks though.

So I've decided to release two versions of this.. an aesthetic version and a playbale one for invasion.

The aesthetic one will be just the ship and all of the features it currently has up to this point. The playable version will have the Invasion supported map but less feaures on the ship. The drop pods remain but no more MAC cannon and a couple less turrets sadly.

The city underneath will be built by JerZ Phenom, who helped build the city on Invasion Repel on Reach.l Considering there were no objects left on that map but it somehow worked anyways, I'm sure he'll do a fine job here. The theme is a human city; story is the covenant have invaded this planet along with this city and the spartan 3 company have been sent to repel the invasion.

Looks very BA.... but also very Aesthetic. I really can't help you to much because I can't see inside the ship. The back end of the ship could easily store a warthog and a tank. Now that you can set up a teleporter to be vehicle only you can get them to the ground without hurting the driver and without ruining the drop pods.
