    Imprisonment

Map Updated. The thread has been updated with the correct information.

(Map is now titled Imprisonment. The [O] variant still exists but the [A] variant has been removed.)

This is a remake of the Halo: CE map: Prisoner. Cleverly retitled as Imprisonment.
I need to playtest this map.

Looks like a good remake here. I forgot about this map, from what I remember it played pretty well.

The only problem I have with remakes like these is that you can get lost in all the visuals. There are so many textures on the walls and floors that it's almost distracting, whereas the original had far less detail, and bridges were different colors.

I know it's something you can't help, but aside from that the map looks good. I'll have to give it a try.

Yeah, we tried our best to simplify things because of budget issues and to make the map look a little cleaner. But with the pieces given its still pretty hard to do. Once you get used to the map it gets easier to move around in, I just played a 1v1v1 game and had a great time. I think Jetpack and Sprint work pretty well here, I haven't tried the other armor abilities but so far nothing has broken the map.

If you've played on Prisoner before then you should have no problem getting used to this map.

    Pretty good remake

I have to say, I very much agree with your comment. Yes, I think most Halo gamers can say this map was an okay map but the bad part about remaking notable maps is that they can be hard to visualize with all of the textures. I've had a lot of problems with REACH maps like these too. But, back to the main point, I believe you all the way =)

I think if you tried the map you would see that it feels really good. Once you get used to the look of it you'll have no problem figuring out where everything is. It is also almost scaled perfectly with the halo 1 map (we used run speed to figure out the distance of all the objects.)

Awesome map. I think you should get rid of the z fighting/flickering.

I personally loved this map on Halo CE and am very happy to see it remade (I was getting ready to do it myself).

Overall, it's a solid effort, although I think it could use some polishing to make it a little more aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for sharing!

We'll see what we can do for a v2. A lot will have to be altered to make it look nicer, and we don't have very many options with our budget.

Don't name it Hydro! There are tons of maps with that name or something very similar so it will be hard to distinguish yours against others. Other than that, I encourage the idea! I loved Damnation! If Bungie's ridiculous filter doesn't allow the name, "Damnation," maybe, "Darnnation," would be kinda funny or something else but I'd avoid the name, "Hydro."

    Looks great.

Looks like a pretty good remake of the map. I wonder how jetpack is going to affect the gameplay. Should make it a lot more intense. Either way, I'm definitely going to download and play through it a few times. Quick question: What area did you use to build it?

Oh, your right about that. I didn't know Hydro was a popular name, well we'll figure something out. We have tons of time to change the name. Also were naming our maps the same way Bungie does so we don't want to call it Damnation, but something similar like they did for their other remakes. For example: Sidewinder/Avalanche, Lockout/Blackout, and Blood Gulch/Coagulation/Valhalla/Hemorrhage.

Also this map will be built near the three waterfalls.

    And to the guy above:

I've tried the jetpack out a little and it changes up the gameplay a lot, very fun to use here. We built it inside the coliseum to save money on the floor and ceiling. The only thing we didn't get in our map is the small little trench that runs the length of the map, but it doesn't matter it plays just as well without it.

We wanted this remake to be super accurate, even the ceiling height is nearly perfect. Try going inside one of the tunnels on halo ce and jump, then go to a tunnel on our map and jump you'll see you hit your right before you get to the full height of your jump.

Wow, nearing 900 downloads now! Thanks guys! Please give constructive criticism, and rate the map up! Getting this map into matchmaking is still a possibility!

Yes, I use to many !.

Added after 17 Hours 37 minutes:

The Darnnation remake may possibly be called Purgatory.

Even the compass is pointed the same way? Wow, that's incredible attention to detail. I never played Prisoner much on Halo, cuz to me at the time, it was as confusing as Chiron. Glad to see that the remakes are remaining true to their roots though

Thank you, we were really excited to do this map, and were glad we could nearly get it perfect. One thing I noticed though, is that when you forge a remake you learn the map really well as you go, and you start to learn secret spots, and choke points. I suggest you try this map with a jetpack, its a lot like Swordbase but smaller.

Also the way we measure the maps out automatically scales it correctly for Reach's movement speeds. Each map is fun and has its own problems we have to deal with and figure out.

For example: This map was our first remake and so we dived straight in hoping we knew enough about forge to get it done right. In our map Purgatory, (In my sig) we had the map on a 30 degree snap to align it with the water falls, but we quickly realized anything but a 90 degree snap sucks really bad. So it made a difficult remake even more difficult. Our next map is a Rat Race remake, its a small simple map, but the ramps and their sizes are very hard to get right.

We have another map planned but it will be more of a spiritual successor than a remake. (Its based off a halo: CE PC only map)

EDIT: This thread is outdated, Updating now. At the moment the link does not work.
EDIT 2: Thread is now up-to-date.

Is the updated version the 3rd screenshot or the 6th one because the 6th one has some really bad wall placement.
