This is a remake of Halo 2's Colossus. Initially I planned on making the bridge conditionally spawn for slayer. However, I went into Halo 2 and found The bridge spawns in all gametypes, team & FFA, except Assault and CTF. As a result, there are two versions of this map. The default version that spawns the bridge only in slayer, then the variant that always spawns the bridge. Since Reach's Over-shield isn't obvious when used, I replaced it with a Rocket Launcher. Excellent remake. I'd love to play some SWAT on this. Looks like a jetpacker/hologrammer paradise, great for headhunter.
The water was an excellent touch. For some reason it caught me completely off guard. I love what you've done. Nice job.
Just got done playin on this and I must say, you did a pretty good job at making everything resemble the Halo 2 classic, but thats about all you did. The map is WAY bigger than the original which makes it feel less like Colossus. Also, you changed the weapon layout slightly which was a big no no. All in all, this was a pretty good remake for the amount of time the game's been out, but it had its flaws.
Yes, it is bigger. But that's one change that comes with Reach. The weapons spawns are very similar to the original, I believe I replaced a set of Needlers with Plasma Repeaters. I also added additional weapons because the original weapon set was a bit light. I am open to changing it of course, but I find it difficult to get people to test my map on a regular basis.
Amazing remake! I couldn't believe how much it looked like Colossus....so much so that it prompted me to power up my xbox1 and run through Colossus on H2. Great job. I just wish it could have been made darker to feel more like the original.
The only way I can think of that being possible is if you either put it in the Lagoon, or if you used some Coliseum walls to make a big shadow, then put the map in the shadow(s). But then that would limit how big you could make the map, and if you put it in Lagoon it would affect the aesthetics.
It is already partly in the Lagoon, and unfortunately, forge-able objects do not generate their own shadows. I suggest for most people to not build in the Lagoon though. The sound of the waterfalls in otherwise silence slowly drives you insane while forging. Fortunately they are much less annoying with the sounds of battle and multi-player.
I took a peak at your fileshare yesterday on XBL and saw this. I had originally planned to make a Colossus remake (even tried to make on ein H3) but I see that there is no point now. This remake is great, the map looks amazing and definately brings back memories of Colossus (one of my favorite H2 maps). I've been looking around the site for remakes of old maps. I know I can stop looking for Colossus remakes now because this is perfect. Same goes for your Hang 'em High remake. Keep forging man, see you on Xbox.
This is only the 2nd or 3rd remake I've seen which I've decided to keep. Did you think about lowering the boundary walls? I think that when using Coliseum Walls like that you should either give the map a roof or lower them so they're not sticking up a lot higher than the highest playable part of the map. Lower some of the walls to 9 on the non-cliff end to see what I mean. From what I've seen in Forge so far its a good map!
I really wish I had the Budget for a roof. But that would have meant making the map smaller than the original which is opposite of what the Reach remakes have been doing. I did lower the walls by Rockets. v1.2 is more aesthetically pleasing than 1.0, and for those asking about 1.1, it was never published before it had a lot of modifications done to it as well. Thread will be updated with new screenshots by sometime Friday the 22nd, I just don't have much time right now.
Version 1.3 is awesome. I ran around the map a bit and couldnt find any lag which is the biggest issue with the remakes of the map that I have seen. Great job on this and Casket. You're remakes are two of the best out there and I hope that you continue making remakes. Thanks again.
Thanks for the compliments, I don't know if or when I'll be doing another remake since most maps have been attempted. I've given feedback and comments on existing maps to help the respective creators make their maps even better. Currently I've been working on more original projects and testing my existing ones more whenever I get the opportunity. More tests mean improved chances of finding a problem that isn't very obvious early on. I'm just confused why my threads don't ever seem to get comments.

I love this map, instant dl for me. Now only if you can implement the same sound effect for the grav lift as the original. Wah wah wah wah wah
I noticed the screenshots weren't reflecting the new, more accurate bridge in the current version, that has now been fixed. I hope people are enjoying this map. If you have a problem with it, please tell me so that I can look into it.
This looks like a pretty faithful remake, but I think ill stick with Titan. but if titan didnt exist, then this would be the one id play. 8/10
