A tiny teaser of Epiquest with a shitty camera at a shitty angle. Don't worry, on the finished version It will truly be Epic. Hence Epiquest. YouTube - Rockwall Epiquest will be reminiscent of Fallout in that it is more of an action/adventure/puzzle map in invasion. Questions, concerns, comments? More on this story as it develops. Btw: I would love anyone who volunteered to make vids for me. New pic: more and less what you'll see when you begin your Epiquest
Do you have to use a Capture Plate? I haven't set up any game types yet but I thought you could have it so you could plant a bomb on one of the rocks.
I'm quite sure you can. The only problem with that is that you can't make an object an objective and a gate. So whatever rock I put it on wouldn't disappear.
now that is cool! can't wait for the map, also have you ever though of using the bomb and making the nuke from Fallout and make a small town dissappear when the bomb goes off. PS I have a cap card a good one too, youtube made the vid all small and such Halo 3 Clips
it would be cool if you could figure out a way to place a bomb instad of a cpture plate... maybe you could set up a sand bag type thing so it looks as tho if you capture the spot it detonates some explosives as well, not just plain this way its not as plain
Thanks for the Cap-card volunteers. Send me a friend request and I'll recommend gameplay vids and such. LD, first thank you =) the epicness shall continue; second, that's why I made the vid cos I felt my description didn't suffice. And as far as the capture plate concern, bear in mind this is nowhere near the finished product. A lot more is going to be added. I honestly just wanted to get it out there that I was the first with the 'blowing up rocks idea'. Basically, what I think I'm going to do is merge the capture plate sideways as far into the ground as possible then make the arming parameters well above the ground. Hopefully, by that logic, only a small lip of the capture plate will be visible after the bomb detonates. I'm enjoying the feedback from such a tiny clip. An epic teaser for and epic quest. Cos epicness is all there is in Epiquest lol. p.s.: Ideas for interesting things in the cave and the canyon are appreciated.
Instead of the capture plate you could just merge a rock into the ground far enough to the side that it doesn't block the passage way you're creating after the bomb goes off. Turn that into the bomb point, then you aren't damaging the aesthetic of the map with a capture plate poking out of the ground. Not really a hundred percent sure if this will even work as I haven't played around with invasion much yet, but it's an idea at least. Looks great so far, by the way, can't wait to see more. Just my two cents.
The problem with your solution Holo is that as far as I believe you can't edit bound volumes when you make an object an objective. This makes the bound just around the object. If I were to merge the rock somewhere that wouldn't interrupt the map aesthetically then it would either be really hard to get to or it would get in the way. The way I see it, a tiny lip of a capture plate (and I'm talkin tiny) would be the easiest to work with. Nonetheless I'll experiment with your suggestion and see if I can't get any more realistic results from it.
I've an HD cap card, only 720p, but I normally have lot's of free time. I'd be happy to record for you as well. If you want to see an example of it at work: YouTube - G33KMachinima's Channel
Thank you redearth. I'll recommend gameplay clips and such to you to capture them. Again, much appreciation for any cap-card volunteers. It'll be interesting to see what footage you all get. Oh, and Holo, I'm eating my words. I just found out you CAN edit bound volumes for objects so I did replace the capture plate with a rock and it looks much better. Thanks for the advice. One more thing: More and less what it will look like as you begin your Epiquest. Because epicness is all there is in Epiquest
Please make sure to P.M. me for all info, it will get the fastest response from me. Also, classified of course, if you got me the map after each individual stage finished I could do a cool little intro/trailer thing for it. I'm sharpening my video editing skills for my school's videoclub, and this would be a great warm up.
Actually, I think I'm just gonna straight up release this one with a gameplay video. However, if this offer still stands, I do have a (classified) map I'm working on that could use a teaser trailer. Now Epiquest itself is experiencing some issues. Spawning issues in particular. And the way I had the bomb arm point, the bomb wouldn't explode but it would simply flash the screen and the rocks would disappear. So I put the capture plate back in but it is now much more natural looking. Also considering the span of Epiquest's epicness, I'm running out of ideas that will fit the bill. Any suggestions would help. Now bear in mind this is supposed to be and Invasion/Puzzle hybrid map with at least one puzzle for the spartans to solve per phase. I've already got one for the first phase but the other two are still pretty bland. So any ideas as to what a good battle element or puzzle would be are appreciated. (epic) Ideas? (epic) Thoughts?
