Hi Guys, is it possible to have non drivable vehicles in a map to just act as cover? Im making an air craft hangar map and was wanting to add some of the USMC copters just for scenery/cover. Allso if it is possible would the vehicles still be destructable? Thanks in advance, ROBSOMA
I was also wondering the same thing. I don't want to have to barricade them in with structures because then it would just look awkward.
I'm pretty sure you can. If it's a team game, with red vs. blue, then you can set it so that only the green, orange, purple, neon, translucent, etc. can get in. I haven't tried yet, but I'm pretty sure.
ROBSOMA- Unfortunately, every vehicle is drivable except the Shade turret (which isn't really much of a vehicle but thats the object list they put it in.) In Halo 3, I have seen people have fusion coils spawn in the air when the map starts and drop on the vehicle, destroying it. Otherwise, you would have to barricade the vehicle in. You could try to put a soft kill zone on the vehicle so if people try to use it, they would die in 10 seconds. Spix- Sadly, regardless of what the "team color" is set at for vehicles, everyone can drive them.
Wow... It's simple. If you're not allowed to drive any vehicles in the map, then Disable Vehicular Use.
CrossBoneDelta is correct, a very easy fix to your problem is to simply make a custom gametype for the map that disallows vehicle usage. Fairly simple solution.
Sometimes the simpliest solutions can be overlooked. That's why places like this site are a great resource to bounce ideas off of and get suggestions. At least it is when kept friendly.
You can also choose weather or not you can destroy them too so if u wanted them as cover then you can make it so they don't blow up aswell
im fairly certain that when you make a game type theres the option to let people actualy use the copters or hogs and if you want them to be destroyed or not.
if you are using any human vechile excluding the mongoose just place a camping stool on fixed on the front back and sides and if a falcon the top i used it in an invasion map i made on an aircraft carrier but i did'nt want a random falcon spawning on the deck hope this helps
Yes all you need to do is go into the gametype settings and go into the base traits. Go to movements (I think not quite sure right now) and make it so that the players can't operate vehicles. This same technic is used in infection (although at the exact same time they have this stupid thing where none of the vehicles show up).
It would also be possible to forge your own vehicles. This isnt recommended most of the time due to the limitations of forgeworld. If however you have room for large immovable vehicles, our youtube channel does have a tutorial for land vehicles "Land Vehicles" [HD] - Forge Tips & Tricks (THFE) - YouTube
I think destroying them at the start would be best because then you can use any gametype variant and the map won't be broken
I may be inaccurate a little here, but I do know that 1. the map is where you decide what vehicles you want 2. the game type alone defines what the players can do with the vehicles 3. the game type can decide which vehicles to spawn and which ones not to spawn 4. the game type can replace some vehicles with others 5. to make a vehicle spawn only once, you set the properties so that it NEVER respawns and it spawns at start of game.
Unfortunately anything that has changed relative to it's initial spawn condition or location will despawn. Also despawn time cannot be modified, and ranges with player proximity and activity.
