I'm not sure if this has been covered yet, but WTF is up with the controls? No matter how hard I try, I can't get objects to line up correctly. The RB and LB buttons are the only way to adjust height, and even if you tap them as quickly as possible, the object you're editing moves like 5 feet. I thought that the coordinate editing would make things easier, but even a 0.1 point move is too much to line up objects accurately. Am I missing something here, or is Bungie really that stupid? NOTE: This is basically only an issue when using phased objects.
Did Bungie take out the gravity shift thing that was in the forge world vidoc? Or am I just blind and can't find the option..... YouTube - Halo: Reach ViDoc - Forge World It's at 5:00 I have some really great map ideas with this gravity shift option.... Too bad I think they took it out. Anybody else know anything about it?
Try clicking in the left thumbstick and holding it while you are moving objects. Optical illusion mate. Just like Distortion, that Bhuddacrane made way back when.
Yeah, it was never in in the first place. Damn Bungie for teasing us like that! >:| In relation to the controls: I love them! It'll take a bit getting used to, but I was just experimenting in Forge World (haven't finished the Campaign yet, gonna do that before I actually get down for real) when I somehow made a "docking platform" on the side of the cliff wall above Quarry. Everything lined up perfectly, and the click-in uber-accurate controls made it really easy to get it right the first time. I solved bump issues using the coordinates (automagically lined up with a Phased Coliseum wall). Now, if only I could get my head around the "press A to let go of object BEFORE you accidentally move it!" that happens after I finish with the coordinates. ^^;
I would like to make Zanzibar/last resort. Has anyone heard of anything DLC wise of this coming out or anyone else making it? Would it be best to make the whole thing in one shot, or to make a template, make it playable, and put it out there, then go back and "design" the actual map?
Last Resort needs to have the wheel spin. If you can make that work, then go ahead. If you can't...well...
So like 1,964 people have asked about the LB/RB controls, and I've seen just as many responses (all of them correct, thankfully). Shouldn't we be having a Reach Forging 101 around here, soon? It seems to me like it would solve a lot of questions before they were even answered...=)
Yes there should be. You can also check out Reaching Perfection which will be putting out numerous forge tutorials in the coming weeks to add to the considerable stockpile of forge lessons.
You dont need any new DLC for Last Resort; Do it on the beach at the end of the canyon.. i doubt you'll get anywhere better to make it no matter how many DLC's come out. I would make it myself but my xbox is screwed It doesn't need to have the spinning wheel thing, in the same way ascension doesnt need to the pillars to rotate (sorry, i forget the name of the reach version of ascension ?) These features are more aesthetical and for themes rather than actual gameplay improvement. Take away the spinning wheel, and gameplay is hardly affected. Pixel Perfect remakes aren't neccesary anyway; if you're gunna remake a map from a previous game you might aswell pick up any flaws in the map flow and design to make it play even better. No map I have ever played form even game has been perfect from the very start; you can always improve on it, and in a way you need to anyway to accomadate for reach's different gameplay (mainly AA's).
The way I'm envisioning it, Reach is supposed to be a prequel, right? The reason I'm asking about DLC is it would suck to get 3/4 the way done, 100 or so hours, and they just release it
It's just that the Wheel made that map for me. Without that, I don't feel it is awesome enough. I know remakes don't have to be pixel perfect but I just want that wheel to move in remakes.
I am new to forging in Reach and I have been having trouble setting up flag locations on my map. I want the capture point and the flag spawn to be at different locations from each other. But for some reason every thing I do it makes them spawn together. Is there a way around this? Can someone possibly tell me what I am doing wrong. If this is the wrong place to post sorry.
AFAIK, no, it's not possible to have them separate. If you look here, you can see the only CTF labels are "ctf_flag_return", "ctf_res_zone" and "ctf_res_zone_away".
Hello everyone. I would like to ask a question about posting map previews on the Halo:Reach Forge Discussion Forum. I would like to know if there is any specific rules for posting map previews on it or is the rules the same as posting on the Halo:Reach Custom Content Forum.
I've got a suggestion for a nice rain effect on forgeworld. Use Juicy, Purple, and Old Timey together. Every once in a while it flares orange due to the old timey, but it overall looks a lot like rain.
There are no 'specific' rules, of course you have to post about your map, but feel free to do that how you want to do it. You can show pictures of your work in progress, use sketchup or draw something to show us the basics of your map, as long as it is a Map Preview you can 'do what you want'
I just came on to ask the exact same thing! so you just write Map Preview at the start of your topic then??? Also can anybody give me some general gidelines for weapon respawn times. what are the times most people use for the weapon respawns? and does the time start from when somebody picks the weapon up or from when somebody drops the weapon and it disapperes off the map?
