Custom Content Not Permitted, HALP!

    Hey guys, my friend just bought a 360 slim and reach a few hours ago, we are trying to play custom games but whenever we try to his gamertag flashes and it says "User content is not permitted." Why is it doing this and how can we fix it? Thanks.

    Probably because he's using a child account with restrictions?
    You need to go to account management and enable user content.

    Not so for me. I have the same issue and we have a "wide open" xbox with no restrictions and we get the "User content not permitted" when under custom game as well.

    Have you checked the restrictions settings just to see?

    If you xbl account has age <18 it always gives those restrictions. I have no idea how to change it, but you should have had the same problem in H3.

    I think its under:

    Guide
    Family Settings (scroll all the way to the right)
    Console Controls

    Something like that.

    Yep. Even called xbox tech support and did a full system reset just in case, and multiple power cycles of the console. It's wide open with no restriction, but no dice. Sad really. We built a cool map and can neither play it or re-edit it.

    @Pyro6666 We are still avid Halo 3 forgers and do not experience any restrictions.

    I'm a long time past 18. I'm 41. But I understand you have no way of knowing that for sure.

    I'm sorry, I'd like to help, but I honestly have no clue how to.... What did tech support say when you called?

    Tech support just walked me through the parental control procedure and we made sure there were no restriction set.

    Ok, So I called Xbox Live support again and we finally figured it out. In my case it is "Privacy Settings". It has to be set to "Everyone". If it's set to "Friends Only" you'll have problems with "User Content Not Permitted".
