Author: Revelation Six Compatibility: All Gametypes Sponsor: Mjolnir Battle Tactics Forging Division Download: MBT Combat Ring There are three tiers to this multi-level arena map. I created this map to look aesthetically pleasing. The bottom ring has access points to the north, east, south and west. It is accented by a series of stone pillars surrounding a gravity lift in the center. Looking up you'll see a wide opening to the middle ring covered in a carefully arranged configuration of shield doors. You'll note that this arrangement is very similar to my popular Stargate maps. The middle ring is wide open, accented by the circular arrangement of shield doors providing access to the bottom ring. The bridges used to construct this floor were arranged in such a way that they form a symmetrical star. This middle ring can be accessed by a series of staircases from the perimeter of the arena. In addition, there is an elevated ring halfway between the middle and top levels providing the only real cover available on the entire map. The top ring is a narrow interlocked configuration of fence walls. It is accented by stone pillars arranged in a circle along the outside perimeter of the ring. In the center of the top ring is a floating overshield that responds every 90 seconds. The map is separated from the original Foundry bases by a well designed wall. In order to prevent access to this restricted area, the wall is topped by a series of horizontal teleporters that redirect the player back into the arena map. A well placed 'nade jump can boost a player over the wall but I don't see many players attempting this in-game. The best fun is to be had in the arena. Anyway, enough of the talk. ooh. Extremely great looking map! You have my download This looks like it would be great with fiesta settings on =]
wow this is absolutely spectacular. excellent interlocking. that ring just looks amazing. but i shouldn't be surprised though since you made that stargate map
this looks really good and neat thank you for taking the time to make a good post also 5/5 on this, i like the idea of having few levels too, unique
Dude nice This map is hecka sweet... you could get better at H3 from playing this.... all i can say is that you have my DL and a 5/5 rating. NICE JOB!!!
I think you'll find that it isn't as sloppy as it looks in the photos. Someone said they'd played it and their comment was that this is the type of map that'll make you a better Halo player. Whether or not that is true, I don't know... but it's a heck of a comment.
It looks a little slopping but that’s probably because of all the interlocking. I’m not sure but it looks like you have teliporters at the top to keep people from getting out. My concern is that people could hop over the teliporters but I will have to play on it to make sure. Good job, looks like it would make for some interesting game play.
Love the idea, but besides the rings it seems to not have much else. Also, it looks very easy to escape
People can hop over the teleporters with a 'nade jump or a well timed jump from two different spots. The majority of people won't be able to do this easily, especially while others are shooting at them. This is not a map that will allow people an abundance of time to screw around. In addition, it's really rather pointless. I honestly don't understand the "sloppy" comments though but I'm assuming people are making these assumptions from pictures alone. I think it's very smooth... I don't like using walls for floors, but many popular maps do this and I've only done it sparingly. They don't look great, but they play just fine.
Superb interlocking, I couldn't tell from the pictures, but is there a way to keep people from getting out of your map?
There is a wall to contain people within the map. The wall isn't unbreakable, but under normal circumstances it will keep players in. Attempts to jump over the wall are met with a series of teleporters that re-direct the player back into the map.
You should build the wall high so you can't jump over it. No point in jumping over it? There's a custom power up, an Overshield and every single weapon you can place in forge in the two rooms. That seems like reason enough? I tested it to see if I could jump over it and it was very easy, and doesn't take time to line up. Personally, picking up an over shield then grenade jumping back in through the teleporters with a Rocket Launcher is reason enough for me, especially in a small map like this one. I'm not saying your map is bad, just needs to be fixed a little...
Jumping into the teleporters in the new version results in an instant-death. I'm not going to build the wall higher because it looks fantastic the way it is. The unused items will be placed inside the fence boxes. I kept them in case I wanted to use them in the future. Various other fixes have also occurred based on feedback. I.e., the sword will no longer double-spawn. I will post updated links to the corrected map in the next couple of days. Thanks to TwoSaltyNuts (Tunnel Rats) for helping with some of the fixes.
looks pretty good. floors made with many walls/bridges trend to look sloppy especially when u need to use different angles for ur design. but the important thing is that it is smooth and as far as i can tell u did a v good job on that
Interesting comment. I agree with the walls looking sloppy when used for floors, but I used walls sparingly and only on the outer ring which is largely covered with double open-boxes. On the other hand though, I really like the designed produced by the bridges in their current arrangement. They form an eight-pointed star and look as if they were intentionally arranged as such. I don't find this part sloppy at all. I'm going to hazard a guess that you reviewed this by pictures alone. This is a map that has to be played to fully appreciate. Actually, I would say that is true for most maps. I think you'll find this map looks decidedly well put together if you decide to download it. -- Rev Take a look at the following image and tell me if you can see the bridge/star arrangement.
With the amount on interlocking done on th map, its pretty hard to not make it sloppy. But it just looks sloppy and isnt placed sloppily at all. Besides the map being pretty easy to get out of, its awesome!
