Are you ready? Are you ready for this? Are you ready for Gyroscope 2.0?!?! Due halo 3's limits I was not able to create the map I originally wanted, but now with forge 2.0 I CAN! This a basic sketchup, so all things will change (EXCEPT THE EPIC RINGS!) New design: Sorry one picture, Im lazy. Old design: Spoiler BAP BAM ZING SHAPOW WIN This will get done... trust me...
Haha I laughed because this map and the previous version are meant to have a sort of race track feel to them. ATM I know its a bit open, its just hard to really visual what should go where until the game actually comes out. Glad you guys liked it.
Excellently done! Intriguing! The only problem, like people say, is how open it is. But I'm racking my brain trying to think of ways to do this. Gunnergrunt recommended making the two large rings less steep, but that creates a few problems itself. Well, I have a couple of suggestions: The walkway that's connected to the lowest part of the biggest ring, make that walkway a platform. A wide one. (It can still be connected to where it is now, there just needs to be dance space. The platforms on the sides of the biggest ring, those could be made to be the bases. I don't know if these are good suggestions, but they are suggestions. When Reach is around, you can find me for some help, if you'd like.
This design needs some serious work, I think. I like the creativity a lot, and the geometry certainly looks cool, but as for how it would play, its basically a crapshoot. get to the top, pwn, game over. verticality is awesome, but only when it doesn't come at the expense of fun.
Looks like you focused more on aesthetics than gameplay. I think you should just take out the two outer rings and make it into walkways and maybe some small buildings and towers.
Remember again this a basic sketchup. Its difficult to visual what should be done, so I am taking all of your suggestions and will spend a while creating and perfecting this map in reach. I don't rush my maps, I test a lot and make sure they work before releasing. Glad most of you like the aesthetics though.
Im glad you have this attitude. Some people would freak after some of the comments in this thread (mine included). Look forward to seeing what you do with this
I'm sure there's a way to make this map work well gameplay-wise whilst still keeping the perfectly measured aesthetic that you've created. I'm afraid all I can think of to do is to make as many of the surfaces as possible wider, which potentially makes more room for placing cover.
What if I were to place the whole structure onto the 'Rock' and have a ground level area. Then I could man cannons that launch you to the top? Hmm...Ill work it out. Reach's forge allows me to trial and error so much easier than Halo 3's forge.
looks like there will be a good feeling of depth I am defiantly going to make sure to watch out for this
Well, this is a very unique take on Forgeworld, and I would love to see this created in Reach. As far as forging on the rock goes, I'd say go for it, and maybe add some loser rings with man cannons as easy access to the top. To be honest, if I were you I'd make this just to prove to myself that I could. ..oh, and sorry for continuing the slight necrobump. Good designs shouldn't go unnoticed for three weeks, though :/
Agreed, I think it would be really cool for some intense swordfights. The parts I really liked were the rings and the part at the bottom. It almost makes me think of that map Zealot, but without the zero gravity stuff. I don't know if this has been asked yet, but which area are you going to forge it in? I'd suggest the inside area but it might also look cool in the area in the wall where the cage was. By the way, guy above me, alienman is with you.
