That seems very itchy and uncomfortable to sleep on. Although, you probably don't do much sleeping on that bed, amirite?
So I decided I'm too impatient to build a whole house for me, so I think that the community should take over my project. This is my house. The only thing is that I have to say is, don't delete the creeper face (the entrance basically) or the third floor, because I worked hard on those two. here is a pic of the third floor
Well I'll be posting the new Minecraft Development Blog Post for now on. Hiring some people, getting an office, and all that! I will get back to posting about actual Minecraft development soon, but bear with me for some more business news: It’s Monday, the trip to Bellevue is over, and plans are slowly turning into reality. I met a lot of really interesting people over there and got a bunch of new potential business contacts, but for the immediate future I will be investing the money I’ve saved up into hiring people and starting up a proper company. Or, rather, a close friend and I will be starting up a new company together. That company will continue to develop Minecraft. I will be the main developer, and I will keep working on it just as I have now, but there will be people supporting me, such as an artist, a web site developer and a business guy to help sort out all deals and make sure that things like the Creeper plushies actually happens. My friend (name withheld for a while for office political reasons) will lead development of a game idea he and I have talked about for a few years. It will be developed in parallel with Minecraft, and has a fairly different style both in visuals and gameplay. Everyone working at the company will be involved in both projects to some degree. We’ll get an actual office type of thing somewhere in Stockholm. We’ll have mandatory game playing hours every week to make sure people are a jour with the latest games (indie and otherwise), and to help build office spirit. If you live in (or can move to) Stockholm, are good at 2D graphics (pixels, gui, illustration), play a lot of games, and want to get a new job, please email jobs@mojang.com with a work sample and a short introduction and a summary of what you’ve done before. We’re also looking for a web developer. Ideally this person should both be able to handle the front end and the back end of web development. If you know what a “Cloud” is and can explain it to me, that’s a huge plus. [edit:] If you’re worried this means I’ll spend more time on administration: I spent way too much time already doing non-development stuff, like talking to paypal about them unlocking my account, traveling abroad, and sorting through support emails to see what bugs there are. I will now hire a person to do all this for me, and some more people to help do the stuff I can’t do well myself (like the website, and some of the art (the armor)). All this just means one thing, NEW AND BETTER UPDATES. Well last week he spoke with Steam and Bungie about his game, that's all Notch told us as he doesn't want us to know anymore. He said that he had a beer with some Bungie employees and talked about his game and future plans. He also talked to Steam and he had two meeting not ONE but TWO. So does this mean he will sign with steam? who knows. but for now he is back and going to get to work on the multiplayer for alpha, i hope. That sums it up.
Screw working on SMP, he has to stop all deals NOW. His idea of Minecraft will get distorted if it goes to Steam....it will go in a whole other direction! Bungie too. I want SMP too, but keep priorities in mind. SMP a little later, or fullblown HUGE game if joined with Steam? (Like, crap laptops can't run it, and now they can with ease)
The fact that Notch has already made 1.7 million dollars with this as an independent game, coupled with the fact that he's having meetings with Valve and Bungie = PROFIT. You have to look at this from his standpoint. Working with Valve or Bungie can give him many more MILLIONS of dollars. Just because you'd rather keep it as an indie game, doesn't always mean that's the producer's best choice. EDIT: yay!! 100th post!
I would love if he worked with Steam, but better yet Bungie. I respectfully disagree about which company has the right culture and size to keep Notch's vision intact. my first point is size. Bungie is actually a lot smaller than Valve. Bungie currently has 180 employees while Valve has 225 employees. Now in terms of culture Bungie again wins out, in my opinion, because of their openness with the community and how they integrate community features with their games (i.e. File share, Service record, Weekly whats up date, etc.) While Valve is run by Gabe Newell, who is well known for being a sell-out. (for those of you who don't know Gabe was well known for his PS3 bashing, and then came out at E3 2010 at the Sony keynote to announce Portal 2 for the PS3 and talked about how great the PS3 is. he was previously quoted as saying that developing processes for the console in general was "a waste of everybody's time" and "a disaster on many levels Gabe Newell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Don't take this the wrong way I am a big fan of both companys, but if Notch were to Model Mojang Specifications, and Minecraft on one of these companys, or the other the way to go would be Bungie
Well, some updates: This is the expansion of Uptown. Real estate is up for grabs, just please ask me. Yes, I do do favorites. Be nice ...maybe watch my minecraft series and subscribe.....hint-hint ALSO, for me and Defy, we now have a super fast tunnel for access to our lovebed. PS: I swear, STOP flooding my lovecave.

He has not made 1.7 million dollars. You did not include TAXES. He lives in Sweden, where from what he has stated, has taken a majority of that money. I would say he has barely 1 million dollars. Either way, that is still very good for a single developer. Do you think Bungie actually care about Minecraft? Not to be rude, but they're working on pushing one of the largest games. Plus Minecraft is a PC based game. I doubt Bungie has any intention to work on it with Notch. Vavle could help on the other hand, but with what? Honestly, what's most likely going to happen is the game will be released on steam and go on from there. He has been fortunate enough to meet big developers from both company due to a quickly popular game. I honestly doubt that either company is thinking of branding Minecraft at this point.
What will happen to the idea that there will be no payment later? I doubt steam would support that...
