This post has gone through 2 changes. But this is the final one. The question and manner of discussing, DO you like the fact MLG is is Reach? Personally I'm in between. I just wish they would take more thought into Close range combat, seeing as how it is more balanced in Reach. The weapon I think they should take out is the plasma pistol since it functions like a power weapon and is an easy tool for unskilled player to get easy headshots. The two weapons they should add are listed below: AR Energy sword These weapons could bring the full balance in gameplay for many reasons. The first being they've been balance out more in reach and secondly it would give MLG a truly unique experience, even in CQC. I am wondering what they will do for Reach and will play the playlist accordingly. I am concerned that saying that these weapons should be added in will get me flamed and disrespected. I love MLG playlists! They are so fair, I love it! As with the MLG BKs, keep doing cheap things against them. It'll maek their head asplode!
Yes MLG should be. But i agree, they need to take it to a new level. And I think we have had this conversation before Zow! ;D Currently MLG plays like Halo 2, which is awesome except that H3 is a whole new game. It is my favorite playlist but they need to include a better range of weapons so that EVERY skill can be tested for the best. Here is what i mean; in Halo 3 MLG was all about who had the best team BR skill which is just crap for any team without communication. It put a heavy focus on intelligence and movement which gives players like me a huge advantage. However, players like me also admit that true skill is only given to those who can win in every situation, with any weapon they are given. IE if i have a teammate who is raping at head-shots in TS i would go pick up a Plasma based primary because it drains the shields much faster than the alternative. And if i find a brute-shot i am sure as HELL going to pick it up because it is hands down the most useful weapon in Halo 3 other than the BR. MLG focus's too much on specific skills and doesn't allow for people who excel at anything else to succeed. However, i must say that if you are complaining about the current MLG this vocally it is because you have bad movement and are NOT well versed with most weapons. IMO a smart player > BR Pro any day, regardless of the weapon. I can show you countless times when i or one of my teammates have outplayed a better armed player just by deceit and movement. Because that is all of what Halo 3 was about. So you already know that my opinion is yes, MLG must be included but ONLY if essential changes are made. And i disapprove of your method of stating your distaste with it because it really is borderline "I am not SUPER ungodly pro at this and i just lost to a guy who was, and so i am going to take it out on this community of good players by citing examples from the immature members among them." Remember that there are immature members who probably agree with what you say too!
No. But it will be there, no doubt. And I won't be. I enjoy the MLG playlists, but I don't enjoy the people that like those playlists. IF you miss one call out, or make one tiny mistake- then you're a worthless piece of **** and they won't let you forget it the whole game
No matter if there is or isn't, I'm not bothering to play it even once, I couldn't stand the MLG play list in Halo 3, so Reach shouldn't be any different.
If you REALLY don't want to start a flame war, you should ask your question differently, and state your opinion in calm, sensible fashion. To me, MLG has both pros and cons. I love playing the gametype personally, it's a fastpaced playstyle that really requires an incredible amount of skill, concentration, teamwork, and strategy. 4v4 MLG TS is basically timed chess in halo. Fast paced, intense, and every move you make will affect the outcome of the game. There's a reason why MLG specializes in mainly long range weapons. Weapons such as battle rifle, sniper, and carbine, in reality, do take more skill to use than most any CQC weapon. Keeping your reticle on a small target, while strafing, using cover wisely, and predicting your enemy's movements is much more difficult than the usual 'burst fire smack' CQC situations. And the purpose for the BR being the main weapon in MLG, is because it is an all purpose weapon. The other weapons involved in MLG are all put there to give an advantage in certain situations. Rockets, obviously, for blowing the **** outta anyone close-medium to medium-far range. Sniper for long range advantage, Mauler for close range advantage, and the carbine for medium range advantage. No other weapon in Halo 3 really fits the grade for an all-purpose but not completely over-powering weapon other than the BR. However, these are the cons. MLG concentrates on skill more than anything, so obviously the general crowd of MLG players aren't going to be polite. So saying that all MLG players say "Holy f__k you suck you bk" On a regular basis, is biased. In terms of the gametype itself, I do dislike how the weapons are so incredibly limited in MLG. It just takes away from the halo experience for me. The reason why Most H3 matchmaking playlists still have AR starts is to encourage players to pick up other weapons. I prefer this concept over the MLG concept, but I don't think either concept is bad. So in a nutshell, yes, I want Reach to have MLG.

I know I'm remembering the few assholes that yelled at me, not the many silent players that I did play well with. The annoying ones stick out in your memory hehe
The OP, obviously. His AR thread clearly demonstrated that he has some sense of entitlement where he deserves to get kills with an easy to use gun against one that needs to be aimed, and now he's coming out and saying that MLG shouldn't even be a Reach playlist because he doesn't like it? Yeah, he's an idiot that needs to shut up.
I say keep the MLG playlists. That way I won't have to suffer all the whiny little jackasses in all the other playlists. Halo 3 would have been much more fun if there was a way to keep all those people who hone their BR skills to beat any other weapon at any range out of the normal playlists.
Look, if someone can get good enough with the weapon to beat most other guns at any range, the problem is with the game not the players. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand for some people. MLG plays their way, emphasizing fair competition and a good spectator experience, and that isn't for everyone nor is it intended to be. Hating them for that makes you a hater, and not a very smart one either.
Ladnil definitely has a point. Just because YOU don't like the MLG playstyle, or the playstyle of the "MLG Pros" doesn't mean that there should not be an MLG playlist. Let the Pros play their playlist, and let the noobs play theirs. That's the reason there's the separation of playlists. So people like you don't have to play against the pros, but rather the pros play against the pros.
Fair fights..... the only competition is strictly between skill...... BR starts...... It's OWN PLAYLIST. In no way did it "ruin H3". It does take skill to play MLG well, anyone can play it, only few can be great at it. You are in the majority... saying MLG sucks is basically calling yourself out as an ass.
Personally, I don't like MLG. If the gametype was edited to suit all ranges, it would be better for sure. I don't really want MLG in Reach, but I know it will be, so they could at least make it better.
You have a point about people hating MLG players for being good but that's not what I have a problem with, and I don't at all hate them, so let me clarify: I have no problem with people putting their entire life into a game so they can be amazing with the BR. I have a problem with being stuck in a match where people have one weapon that is so effective at any range that they can win almost every firefight with enough practice. When a weapon works that well at CQB and ranged combat there is also a problem with the game for allowing this situation. Every weapon should have a weakness to something besides a rocket launcher no matter how skilled the user is. The picture is great but I don't exactly hate MLG people, I just prefer to play with normal people. Just like I go to school with people my age.
That is a great point, but sometimes people have to go to a different level out of necessity. I've skipped two grades while i was in school, and so i end up being with people who are 'older' than me but still at my level. Similarly, i enjoy playing with people at a higher level because it helps me improve my skill and get better at MY pace, rather than always playing with people who are equal to or less than me.
