That blows. Shiny Ponyta/Rapidash are awesome. Buy Quick Balls (I think they're in the Pewter City Pokemart). They're great for catching Pokemon if you chuck them on the first turn. They barely ever fail.
I lost my first two shiny pokemon. I caught a Roselia when I first got Pokemon Pearl. I evolved it into a Roserade, battery died and I didn't save. Second time happened when I was playing my Diamond. I was chasing Mesprit and I ran into a shiny Bronzor. I caught it and continued looking for Mesprit. I eventually found it and accidentally made it faint. I reset to my last save without even thinking about the Shiny Bronzor. I'd rather the Bronzor and Roselia to the shinies I've got now. (Luxio and Raticate)
I've been playing pokemon since it came out, and still have never had a shiny pokemon (except gyrados) in any of my games. Feels bad man.
I'm about to start the Nuzlocke challenge on my LeafGreen game. If you havn't heard of it, rules It should be pretty tough, but whatever.
In this game, first and second generation of games are my favorite. There are so many different types and colors of Pokemon, and there are different options for changing themes and Pokemon characters, I like blue and gold, in these color Pokemon looks awesome.
I started Playing Soulsilver, I forgot how much I liked these games. Found a shiny oddish btw. Good luck with that challenge, sounds hard.
Since we're talking shinies again I've got a couple box-fuls of them between Platinum and SoulSilver. I posted them before in this thread, I'll edit this once I find that post. EDIT: Found it! Here's the list of shinies I have in my SoulSilver (caught in-game and/or traded over from Platinum): Spoiler Charizard Blastoise Pikachu Raichu Sandslash Gengar Nidoking Golbat Ninetales Alakazam Cloyster Arcanine Magneton Eevee Dragonite Articuno Togepi Ampharos Steelix Houndoom Heracross Sneasel Skarmory Tyranitar Entei Suicune Ho-oh Sceptile Swampert Ralts Aggron Dusclops Breloom Ninjask Salamence Milotic Flygon Registeel Latios Rayquaza Luxray Budew Spiritomb and my crown jewel of shinies: Arceus (lv 80 straight outta the Hall of Origin in Platinum, I wanted that sucker sooooooo badly)
Damn, how long did it take to find those? I didn't know you could even get a shiny Arceus since it color changes for each type; does it just have several shiny colors or does it not have an alternate color?
Thanks, benji. I on't know how people get lucky enough to get that many shinies, I've only ever seen 2 over a few years and a few hundred hours of gameplay(probably closer to a thousand over all the pokemon games I've had)
Haha it took me quite a while. And the shiny Arceus just has the golden body along with the color changes instead of its normal white body. Well here's how it works, my friend. You got three choices here: 1. This only applies to legendaries you encounter in one place (i.e. Arceus). Save right before you engage them in a battle. If he's not shiny when you start the battle. Soft reset. Repeat until you fight him and he's shiny (this will take a while, like a solid 5,000+ resets for some). 2. Use the pokeradar to chain wild pokemon. If you get good at chaining and you keep the chain going long enough, eventually you'll see a shiny patch of grass, go into that and the pokemon will automatically be a shiny of whatever you were chaining. There are plenty of articles/videos on how-to's for chaining. 3. Breed them yourself. If you get really good at this (and this is a ****in skill, good sir) you can manipulate the game to give you shiny pokemon with max IVs on command. This is actually how I got a fair bit of my shinies (it's much quicker once you get the hang of it). Sadly, I have no idea how to do it anymore, seeing as I haven't played in over a half of a year. But again there are articles about how to do this. Sure, I'd just have to find my game first seeing as I put my DS and all of its games away for a while since I wasn't playing them anymore. I'll get back to ya when I find it.
Thanks for that, I'll have to see if I can find anything on the internet on breeding shinies. I just recently started playing again myself, I played mostly the gba ones and a little of the older generation pokemon games. Thanks for the help again.
Here's Smogon's article for Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I'm pretty sure it applies for HeartGold and SoulSilver too. Good luck. DPP RNG Manipulation Guide Part 1 - How to Hatch a Shiny Pokémon - Smogon University
Alright thanks. Is there anything in particular that you want for it? Now that I look at your list again. I may be interested in that Ralts of yours. If/When you find your games could you check if it's a male?
