I just want to see how menny know the ending to reach by reading the book? and just post some of your thoughts on the game below. NO SPOILERS PLEASE
the book Halo:Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund and the the game Halo:Reach have no connecting story line at all as far as im aware. The S-III's shouldnt be there on reach as the where either being trained on Onyx by Kurt (a S-II who was 'missing') or off on highly tactical suicide missions. Onyx was detroyed shortly after FoR. The ending would be relatively the same i presume. Covenant arrive. UNSC destroyed. Reach glassed. Master chief and the PoA escape. Cue Halo CE. correct me if im wrong.
Nope spot on except Kurt trained the 2nd generation S IIIs that were, how do you say, lesser qualified. I think Nobel Team is a surviving team from Sigma Six or what ever its called, you know at the begging of the book FoR all the S IIIs storm that covenant refiling factory just outside occupied space and they all die except 2. I think Nobel team also lives from that so there original S IIIs not 2nd generation like the ones at the end of the book.
Actually they released a new version of The Fall of Reach 3 days ago with 27 pages of new content, I'm guessing to fit it into the new story developments. Haven't read it though so it's impossible to say for certain. However, who's to say the group that Kurt trained was the first "batch" as it were, and that Master Chief (who is actually a relatively low rank in the military had "need to know" about it. If that's the case we may have just never heard about it. (It has been a while since I read Ghosts of Onyx, however, from what I remember I don't think Kurt ever said his were the very first explicitly.) *shrugs* Just my two cents. I figure Bungie will work it all in somehow. Also, they're releasing The Flood and First Strike over the next few months with additional content added there too. Source
Thats dumb it makes me mad cause i bought all the books already, i just finished the Cole Protocol. I think in the first trailer for reach it tells you and i think bungie said they are a survivng team of S 3s that are 1st generation. Ill have to find it though
the book is 'Ghosts of Onyx' not 'Fall of Reach'. There were only two surviviors from that mission CaptainSTFU, they were Tom and Lucy who were MIA'd at the end in the protal wrld thing with Chief Mendez, a Next-gen S-III squad, several S-II's and Dr.Halsey.
That's what he is talking about, ya i forgot Fall of Reach and Ghosts was taking place almost at the same time. At the beginning Tom & Lucy were part of the first generation S III's. They attacked the plasma plant just outside occupied space, and blew it up. Only Tom and Lucy survived. Then at the end of Ghosts of Onyx, Tom Lucy Halsey Mendez, Kelly and Linda's cloned body (or her partial body remember she was hit with a hunters fuel rod in FoR but Halsey can clone her a new body) all go into the Dyson shpere which Halsey found out is on Onyx, its like a sheild world to keep the detination of the halo's from killing you. Needless to say this didn't happen cause in Halo CE John stopped the ring from firing. Anyway im fairly certain for novel values Bungie made Nobel six be a surviving team of S III's that didn't partake in the attack with Tom and Lucy. And well George is an S II that gets put with there team. So basically Nobel Six has nothing to do with the books they just related them to Ghost's of Onyx and the S III program by saying they are a surviving team of original S III's. Oh and as for them being on Reach and it not making sense, no it makes perfect sense. Reach is where the S II's lived after training, it was there base of operations. There are 2 generations of S III's. You could technically say the ones Kurt train are S VI's not S III's cause S III's had to be like S II's perfect in everyway, only difference is they didn't go through the augmentations to there bodies or as severely as John Kurt George and the other S II's did. Now the ones Kurt got to train where just picked some of them had mental issues like being severely angry and other problems where as Tom and Lucy were just like John and Kurt just not as strong. So i think its safe to assume the Tom and Lucy and the other 1st generation S III's lived on Reach also.
I just became seriously interested in the books just by reading these posts. Could you get these books at a library or something?
Most likely, a public library should have them. Or an online store or library Ebooks is a site where you buy them but i bet there are places where you can read them for free.
